Recently I downsized and purchased a small house with a Craftsman Residential Garage Door opener. I assumed that it was working fine including the Genie Keyless Entry. Upon closer inspection, I noticed that the only thing working on the garage door was the motor controller and a single remote control that needed a new battery. So I watched a bunch of YouTube videos and researched the individual parts/wires. I learned several of the wires had been snipped and the inside switch wire had broken off. I tried to contact the previous resident but never heard back. I learned that Keyless Entries were wireless nowadays and the existing Craftsman controller was almost unusable in it's present state. I have an electrical background and was able to get the inside switch working and replaced the lone remote control but I really wanted a Keyless Entry. So I found this wireless Keyless Entry that apparently is compatible with several types of garage door openers as long as I can figure out how to change the code. This Chamberlain Keyless Entry should work great as I have a very good idea on how to change the codes. To be honest, I haven't received the Chamberlain Keyless Entry but from the YouTube videos I've watched and what I've read, it should work fine. I considered several models before deciding on the Chamberlain. I had a Chamberlain Keyless Entry at my old house that never failed me so I feel confident giving it a positive review. Moving into an existing house is hard enough without learning the problems the previous resident neglected to mention. I suspect that the previous elderly resident never even used the garage which is my preferred way of entering and leaving the house. I may be premature in my review but I'm confident that sòon I'll have all the features of the garage door functional.

I have used Chamberlain garage door openers for years. Recently I installed the B6713T belt driven 1-1/4 hp opener. It is amazingly quiet and powerful but my remote key pad wouldn’t program to this opener. Old key pad tech, new opener tech. This keypad programmed instantly to my new B6713T. I didn’t even need a ladder to climb up to push the “learn” button on the opener. I double tapped the “learn” button on my wall mount opener on the wall that came with my B6713T. The remote keypad instantly programmed with a couple more button taps. BTW, steer clear of the chamberlain opener that is the sister to my model but has a camera on it. Lot issues and problems with that model as well as the “MyQ” keypad with a camera. It work good but battery operated only and you need a subscription for the camera storage. I just added a Ring cam to my paid storage subscription to Ring and mounted the cam in the garage. I have 3 outside Ring camera's and the indoor in the garage as well as a solar power Ring camera with flood light on shed. All these Ring cameras are handy for documenting any activity in and around my home with instant notifications.

Replaced the previous opener with no significant problems.

IMPORTANT: This keypad garage door opener has a "one button close" feature. It can CLOSE the garage without entering the four-digit pin code. But if the garage door is already closed, the keypad requires the code in order to open it. This feature can be turned off (see photo of instructions). Personally, I like it. It means that when walking out of the garage, a simple press of the button closes the door. No code necessary! The reviewer who said this was a problem either didn't understand how the product works, or his garage door is malfunctioning (i.e. his opener doesn't know whether the door is open or closed). Another issue could be that the keypad remains active for 15 seconds after the code is pressed. In other words. the door can be EITHER opened or closed with a single press of the button IF it's within 15 seconds of the code being entered. Again, I like this feature. One thing I DON'T like about this keypad, and every other keypad on the market, is the cover/door remains open until manually closed. All the years I was raising my kids, I would come home to find the keypad door wide open leaving the rubber keys subject to sun-rot and water penetration. I fixed it by placing a small plastic object on top of the opener, behind the hinge of the cover. This allows the cover to only be opened part way. The keypad is still very accessible, but the cover closes automatically after use (by gravity). Problem solved! (for me a plastic, electrical wire nut was perfectly sized for the job.) Finally, the unit came with a regular (non-alkaline) battery installed. I don't expect it to last long, but at least it gets you up and running without chasing around for a battery. Enjoy!

Just got this yesterday (01/29), Opened the package and had it working in about 2 mins. Push the learn button on the garage opener (for me it was a yellow button on the back of the unit)...hold until the lights blink. Then take the key pad and put in a code of your liking (that you can remember, of course!) ... make sure and push the buttons with authority! and push the ENTER key. Now the opener blinks to confirm it learned the code from the keypad. Test it out...use your code and push enter...It should work as mine did. To mount - put in the top screw and leave it about 1/8" or so out from being flush. Then hang the key pad on the top screw and pull it down into place. Then remove the battery door at the bottom of the keypad and let the battery hang. Make sure the keypad is level and put in the bottom screw. Put the battery back in and put the battery cover back on. Keep in mind the battery door is a tight fit and to remove it, you push in and then down. To put back on, insert the top clip of the bat door in the slot (not all the way) then flush it out on the bottom corners and push up to fully clip it in. Mine was kind of a pain in the ass, but not too bad. I really like the features of this unit and should have bought it earlier. My home builder has this option on his building specs for $150! This is a very easy do it yourself install so I am glad I decided to wait and do later. Good luck.

Second, this works perfectly with my Craftsman 2007 Dual garage door opener with a purple button. The battery died on my existing keypad. When I tried to replace the 9V battery, one of the leads stuck to the old battery rendering the old keypad useless. I was concerned that this was hard-wired and would not be able to get it easy fixed. But it turns out that the keypad is just. basically a "combination remote control" that operates on the same premise as the remote that you have in your car -- only you mount it to your house and is more secure. Found the reviews here and took a chance since it was cheaper than other solutions. But thanks to many of the detailed instructions here in the reviews, even I -- a relatively household maintenance challenged single mom -- was able to get it to work. It is a life saver since my kids rely on this to come and go and they don't even have keys (because they would lose them!). This is virtually identical to the old keypad. It did take several attempts to program it but I just kept going through the instructions in the review and 4th time was a charm. The trickiest part was getting it mounted on my door jam since the screw that held the old one was too far in. In essence, this was a 37-dollar battery since the battery connection is definitely the weak link. But I'm just happy to have keyless entry to my house and garage again.

Our old keypad lasted about ten years before the buttons started wearing out and became less responsive, especially in the winter. This was an easy replacement that works perfectly. Setup took less than five minutes and it connected to our existing system without any issues. Simple, reliable, and does exactly what it should.

My garage door opener is a 20+ year old Chamberlain. I needed a new Chamberlain Key Pad to replace the original key pad that died from old age. I did not want to buy a a cheap knock-off just to save $20. I wanted name brand OEM that would last through another 20 years of Canadian winters. When the new key pad arrived, I was pleased with its solid, weighty feel. I could tell this was no cheap knock off. The installation was easy. One screw in the door frame to hang the key pad. And a second screw to secure it in place. Easy peasy. Here is a Pro Tip for you. My garage door opener has a rolling code "learning button" on the motor housing. I had to get up on a ladder to push the learning button to pair the new key pad remote. Here is the tip: Take the new remote up the ladder with you and pair it first before you install it on the wall. That will save you an extra trip up and down the ladder.

Works exactly as promised with my Liftmaster garage door opener from 2010. Easy to program and the one-button close feature is already programmed in. It is a bit less money than the Liftmaster-branded unit, but because Chamberlain makes Liftmaster, I figured it would be fine and it was. Nevertheless, it is still around twice the cost of the after-market, off-brand units, but I did not want to take the chance as some of those reviews were quite disappointing. The 9-volt battery that comes pre-installed is a cheap brand I never heard of before and is not alkaline. I replaced it with a Duracell before I even started using it.
