how deep is each compartment? the measurements states 5x5x9, so each container is 5 inch wide but what is the depth?

If you include the lids which allow you to nest the units, each unit is 3" tall. Actual internal height for storage is about 2 3/8 " . You may also nest them either more than 3 high or less than 3 high. My wife is very pleased with them, and the flexibility in how many units you stack lets them fit into nearly any space or location.

Could you fit leather chokers in these?

Do these kind of seal? Or lid just sits in place? Wondering if they would work for shake powder storage for different flavors?

The Bella canisters do not have seals on the lids. Hope this helps!
