what is the minimum length it can be adjusted to?

I use the fingertip grip. So to get the minimum length, I completely remove the rear end of the mouse which gives a length of 4" for the body (there is one small screw sticking out, you could cut it off if you needed, but then you couldn't go back or return it).

Is it normal that it arrived without packaging, just in plastic in a shipping box? This is a verified product?

No. Mine came in packaging within a box. Clearly brand new.
