After "The Murder of Roger Ackroyd" and "Murder On the Orien Express", this was the third novel I have read from Agatha Christie. In comparison to the aforementoined ones, this book does come up with a lot more action and the plot is very dense. Again, the characters are very credible, although some of them seem to be well-known - Christie seemed to have a preference for blue-prints of stereotypic characters in a certain way (regarding a few of them, I think you'll know which ones I mean). What I regard as a (minor) negative point is the fact that the island (place) could have been stressed a little bit more. There are only a few remarks about the former oner, but what lacks the story is a detailed description of the house and its surroundings. After the characters are introduced one by one, the story immediately paces forward and leaves you no breath until the solution. This was something I did not find in the other two novels I read before, especially "The Murder of Roger Ackroyd" was much slower and Poroit had to decypher one clue after another. Maybe this is the reason why this novel is so popular among readers - it's more modern in pace and writing style. I have to confess, I also liked it very much and again the ending blew me away - I could again NOT figure out who was the killer. If they published this book again today (just as it is), it doubtless would be among the top-10-titles in crime. I also could find out that this story was re-written and re-used for several later crime novels and movies - which really indicates that here we have a true classic.

Good book

This book is just a gem. The story is very captivating, you just can't stop reading. From the start you know that it is not a ordinary one. You keep guessing and guessing about who is behind all of the deaths but at the end... dang. Also the story is pretty straightforward and direct, hence you can finish reading it in a few days or less.
