Love this game!
Love this game! May not look like much but it packs a lot of suspenseful puzzle into 45 minutes that provokes an open mind to succeed. For a seemingly tactical game there is a good amount of depth. I could compare parts to Carcassonne or Castles of Burgundy but somehow it provides more satisfaction than both combined. Rules aren't as complex as Burgundy but more than Carcassonne. The theme and artwork complements the game. You start with a humble lot and shovel to build a challenged city of vineyards, farms, ponds, gardens, bakeries, fountains and buildings each unlocking resources which you then race to fulfill the available scoring cards that change each game. The scoring mechanism is an inventive and very tense concept. My only complaint is the vineyards, farms and gardens are difficult to tell apart.

A great Feld game!
We have quite a few games from Stefan Feld, as he is our favorite board game designer. In a way, the main part of the game, picking tiles, is a mini version of personal Carcassonne. We’ve only played it four times so far, but it’s beautiful, easy to learn (but hard to master) and of course has an insane replay value. This game is lighter than Castles of Burgundy so if we want to play a ‘Medium weight’ game, this is one of our new go-to games. Good job again Stefan!

Simple gameplay with great replayability
my biggest issue: I agree with others with their sentiment that the game does not look the greatest. For a new/modern game it definitely does not live up aesthetically to other games out there. That said, the gameplay is honestly really fun and unique. Very easy to learn (with a little re-reading of a few instructions). Definitely watch some let's-play reviews before you get it and you'll know exactly how to play the game before you even get it. This game is now a regular for us!

I'm a fan of this designer and I LOVE this game
I've played many of Feld's designs but this one is just so clean and fun. Move your guy around in a circle to pick a tile to help you place the tile on your board. It's a typical Feld "point salad" type game but easy enough to teach new gamers and still be interesting for hobbyists.

Great edition of a good Feld game
We are very happy with this cleaner 3rd edition of a great Feld board game. If you like Castles of Burgundy, you may well enjoy this lesser known drafting tile placement game.

Great game!
Really like this game. Once you get the basics, it becomes a fun and nicely paced game of luck and strategy.

Still Errors With Print Lot #P35570I1-0634 of White Box Edition
Hard to believe after all these years there are still bad copies of the White Box edition of Carpe Diem for sale. I just purchased on AMAZON at a large discount the White Box edition. Here are the particulars of what I got: 1) Print Lot #P35570I1-0634. 2) Print error on border piece results in 2 Gardens / 4 Vineyards instead of 3 each. 3) All city district boards are the same; not four different boards as in prior editions. 4) Rule book states "Player takes 1 city district board". Nothing about "random". I"ve asked for an exchange from AMAZON, hoping I get a newer, corrected print lot.

Great game, get it!
Good quality components, clear instruction manual and just a great game! Other games by Stefan Feld are better known - and they are also worth getting as he's a genius game designer - but this one is right up there.
