Is the paint on the blocks non toxic? I am concerned about lead based or toxic paint because my child puts it in her mouth.

Melissa and Doug's official email responses posted by other inquiring parents neither confirm or denies but reiterates their commitment to constant testing and audit of their toys from their overseas production facilities. My main concern is their prior recalls in Canada for elevated levels of Barium which is a heavy metal. There was no recall in the US as our threshold is higher than the Canadian standard. To be fair recalls for any manufacturer across any industry are common and M&D now adheres to the stricter standard for the US as well, however, I have seen a fair amount of their toys with paint chip even after light usage. My own collection of toys for my 15 mo old have been retired as I do not want him ingesting any paint chip period. And their lack of response to my email inquiry after receiving a defective set has made me purchase other brands for my baby's toys.

What is the recommended age for this product?

The size of the wooden Cube is roughly between 5 3/4 and 6 inches.The shapes are roughly between 1 1/2 to 2 inches.Hope it helps

Where is this product made?

In the Product Details of the page, it says, "Origin: China." I don't know if that turns you off, but it definitely helped teach my 22-month old how to say "oval," "diamond," and "hexagon." Yes, hexagon! But he spends more time making towers out of the blocks than fitting the blocks in the holes.
