Can i use this cable only in order to have sound output, while using hdmi for video? i just need sound output because my monitor has none.

Yes that's the main reason i bought this cable. Audio through receiver and video via projector makes the Wii U way better! Make sure you go into the settings for the console and select the correct option to utilize both functions. I belive it's default is standard using only avi cable vs hdmi & avi. Enjoy!

can this cable work for standard tv with the wiiu?

hiyes this cable is also compatible with the wii u but you will have to change your output settings on your wii u from HDMI to AV when you plug it in.thank you

Does the Wii U come with a cable to hook up to an OLD TV? Not a new flat screen.

Yes it will. cause I have a old TV two.

When you hook this up will the tv look hd although your tv is 1080i and will the wii u have sound plz answer?

The tv will look like it's hd. The graphics on the Wii u are amazing. Yes the wii u will have sound. I have the same cables and have never had a problem.
