Durable mortise jig
This jig works great to mortise locks as a budget friendly option to the more expensive brands. Durable and the case keeps the parts together

This is the one to get! However...
This is actually the second of two very similar "door opener" mortise jigs I got on Amazon. This is by far the better of the two, and at about $100 it's a pretty good deal. When using it, it seems that it is best to remove material on a downward pass, and the faster your drill goes the better! However! I strongly recommend purchasing a few extra and replacement items. For example, the shaft collar that limits the depth of the mortise likes to slide and mar the shaft (ruining both the shaft and the work piece). After some trail and error I found that 15mm shaft collars with a single clamping screw work quite nicely (see pictures). I got a set of 4 for another $10 or so right here on Amazon. Next thing is that the smallest bit that comes with this is 18mm wide. Since the lockset I was installing was only 14mm wide I thought this was an excessive amount of wood to remove. These bits have an M10 thread on them and if you search M10x16mm bit you can find a 16mm version of the these bits on Amazon. Only downfall is that they take about two weeks to arrive. Finally, since the lockset is square, and a round bit can only make a round hole, you'll need to chisel out the corners. For this, I also got a 16mm chisel. The set comes with an 18mm chisel.

Piece of cake!
Tried to hire a “door person” to come install this complicated Mortise pocket door lock from Rejuvenation, but no one would return my call. Bought this tool and also a Dewalt compact plunge router and together had no issues installing this lock. Probably would’ve spent more hiring someone to install this lock than the tools cost, and now I have these tools to keep. Definitely took my time and went slow. I also bought a 2” x 6” x 8’ Doug fir board and mounted it (vertically) outside the house first to use it as my “test door” and it worked good on that so I moved on to the door inside the house. Lots of sawdust!

Great tool for the DIY
This is a great cost effective tool for the DIY. The tool worked great to open the mortise lock opening and cross drilled handle holes as well as striker plate openings. Highly recommend it. Fast service and fair pricing. I especially liked the way the tool clamped on the door, and the ease of setting up slide stops and depth of cut.

Great product even on old fragile door
This product worked like a charm. You do have to take it slow but it will be no problem if you’re careful. We used it to finish three 100 year-old doors and three modern replicas. All doors are 1 and 3/8 inches thick but they’re still works great.

Works great
I used this on really soft pine and still got a clean cut.

No Instructions, apparently multiple basic flaws
1) Tearout: The thing vibrates around and creates a hole even larger than the bits provided, which are too large for most locks. It also means you'll be damaging whatever you try to work on. 2) The clamping mechanism has no arrangement to fit the door edge evenly. It should have stops. I had to make wooden stops to elevate the machine, because the bit sticks out way down into the clamping area. You have to try to clamp the workpiece evenly at both ends while everything is pivoting on the bit. 3) Because only the tips of the clamp can grab the door, you can't rely on the hole to be oriented perpendicularly to the workpiece. 4) It doesn't come with bits that fit standard mortise locks. Even without the tearout making everything wider, I was going to be making compromises. 5) It doesn't include a corner chisel, which is an inexpensive and essential piece. Instead it comes with a straight chisel, which makes things unnecessarily complicated. Of course I already own a corner chisel, but it's a cheap move to save $1USD. The whole thing comes across as a knockoff by someone who doesn't really understand what they're copying and why it works. If you have 1 door to do, you can struggle through it. If you have work to do, skip it. Due to tearout, vibration, and the fact that the machine can't be oriented perpendicularly, along with missing instructions, I cannot use the tool. Probably it is previously-owned.

The toolbox arrived with loose items rattling around. One cutting bit was already attached, and other things leads me to believe this was not a new item. A tool like this should come with instructions. There are still parts that I am not sure what they are for. These are not covered by the lame instructional pictures on this listing. For example, one end of a rod is adjustable in and out (see photo), whereas all the others are fixed. What is this for? Do some people have doors that are thicker at one end or something? The listing pictures state "4 kinds of cutter head". ??? I only got three. Definitely practise before moving on to an actual job. My first attempt with following the instructions "Drill to a certain depth, then move out and then move up" lead to a poor cut. (See photo) I would recommend making very shallow passes the full length of the mortise, with light pressure. It probably takes longer, but makes a more accurate cut. Also, be sure to stand it on a flat surface before tightening the rods up.
