RDS MFG INC 71083 Rectangular Auxiliary/Transfer Fuel Tank - 45 Gallon Capacity

Perfect for my 2016 Ram 3500, went with the 45 gallon plus install kit and in total it was under two hours to complete it. Wish I had gone with the 60 gallon though because I'm 40 miles shy of complete round trip to the dunes and back with no stops. Quality is top notch and the billet fuel cap is great! It does sit just just above my bed rails but not a big deal for me.

Got the tank and it is just what I wanted for 5th wheel towing out west. Fits in my long bed Dodge fine, I had trouble getting a screw into the passenger side tab because of the tight fit, but it is plenty secure with a chest tool box anchored just behind it. I am on my first fill up and it took about 40 gallons, within 2 inches of the top. No instructions, but good help on the phone. Used the RDS diesel install kit to hook up to the truck. This was not to hard to do, cutting the fill tube took a stout knife, but the rest was pretty easy. Very happy with the tank. It peaks above the rails of the pu (2009 2500) a couple of inches which is ok but I can easily see over it to hitch up the trailer.

Seemed like it took forever to finally arrive. But, on arrival I found it to be well made, and shipped with no damage. I installed it on my 2016 RAM 2500 short bed using the supplied hardware and install kit ordered separately. Install took a couple of hours, the worst part was cutting the metal fill neck of the truck. Once installed, and no leaks were found, fuel was added and an RV camping trip provided a test run. The tank preformed exactly as designed. On reaching half a tank on my truck, I stopped and flipped open the valve to the RDS tank. On getting back on the road I saw that the fuel gauge seemed to start climbing, but very slowly. My fuel gauge remained on or slightly above a half tank for the rest of the two hours we drove to our destination. This is money well spent, as I feel I can probably fill both the tanks and pull for around 12 hours without having to worry about finding a gas station I can pull my 40' RV into and out of.

This tank is well built and I am happy with the product, however it was shipped to me without packaging, so the mounting brackets (3) were bent when they arrived. I had to pound them back into position before I could mount it in the truck bed. Not a huge deal, really, but a new product should not be shipped in such a way that damage to it is inevitable. I see other reviews that also speak of damaged brackets.

Item showed up fast without any issues. Installation was straight forward. I used the Southern Truck 11029 2" Diesel Auxiliary Install Kit, I got here on Amazon. Was pleasantly surprised the tank arrived with the upgraded locking cap. Also included was dense foam padding and all nuts and bolts springs and instructions. I'm always nervous dealing with freight shipping, but had no issues this time.

I was a little concerned when my new tank arrived without packaging, but all the parts were together and all was in good condition. The tank is working perfectly and it looks great mounted in the box of my truck!
