Perfect application for transmission bolts
I used this Permatex blue thread locker for my 2006 Lexus ES330. After changing the transmission filter, I cleaned the mating surface, added gasket and screwed the pan into the transmission. I added this blue thread locker to each bolt for a total of 18 bolts and tightened up in zig zag pattern. The bottle was enough for all 18 bolts and had some leftover. I believe with this size, it should be enough for two vehicles. It is not only cheaper than Loctile but also provides same strength. It is versatile for other applications as well. It is easy to use and provide great consistency. Until now, the pan has no problems: no oil leaking, no signs of loosening. Great product.

Permatex - Great Stuff
I bought this to use when I modify my guns. It works quite well. Buy THIS BRAND, not some knock off brand that will leave you frustrated. Don't say I didn't warn you...

Worked for my bicycle's loose crankarm
EDIT (March 2010): It's still holding tight after 1.5 years! ---- Brief summary: It's been working great for over 3 months on my bike. Longer version: The left crankarm on my 20+ year old bicycle was coming loose every month or so. The local bike shop said that there was nothing I could do short of tightening it and that the problem would get worse until I replaced the crankarm (a >$100 fix and lots of fun trying to locate an overpriced unused vintage part on auction sites). I researched the problem online and came across a few mentions of people using Loctite threadlocker to fix the problem. I decided to get the Loctite 243 since it is resistant to grease. Unfortunately, the local shops only carried Loctite 242 (not oil resistant). Amazon carries Loctite 243, but it is through a third party vendor which charges as much as the item costs for shipping. Fortunately, I came across this Permatex threadlocker, which is also grease resistant (#24300) and is offered with free shipping. My impression is that this is the same exact product as the Loctite 243, but rebranded. Over 3 months ago, I removed my crankarm and wiped the gunk off both the male and female threads. I applied Permatex to the male threads and screwed the crankarm back in. I let it sit undisturbed for 2 days to allow the stuff to fully cure. I have been riding my bike almost everyday since then (about 1000 total miles), but the crankarm has not come loose. I'm so impressed by this product that I decided to use it on other screws that would periodically come loose (like on my rear rack). Everything has stayed in place. If you're unfamiliar with these thread locking compounds, be aware that there are several versions of the Permatex and Loctite. The blue stuff is of medium strength; one should be able to break the seal using the force from hand tools. There's a regular and an oil-resistant version of the blue stuff (best to go with the oil-resistant if you have a choice). If you need something stronger, there's a red version. You'll need to heat that stuff with a blow torch to break the seal. A low strength purple version is also available.

Good products
Great product for stainless screws and bolts that get connected to aluminum and brass

Semi-permanent mounting stuff
Worked on my threaded barrel cover, and slipping forearm (rail) on my SBR once my armorer showed me the correct way to apply. Be sure to read the directions, and apply sparingly, as it can be a bear to remove what you "locked" it with. Loctite can be slightly easier to remove what it was used on, and I got used to it racing cars years ago. But this threadlocker did just fine, and the cover and forearm have not budged in service. No current need to remove them, so can only speak to my initial removal of the cover when I put too much on the threads. One drop to me was larger than the head of a pin, but for the cover, that was all that was needed. The forearm needed more. Experience is the best teacher, but can be frustrating (chuckle).

Better than Loctite
I used Permatex Threadlocker Blue and found it much easier to control, more viscous, than Loctite's product. It is more resistant to 'running' off of whatever substrate you apply it. I've used it on tiny screws to larger bolts. It works flawlessly. The higher viscosity makes it like working with a gel. I will buy more of this product. Also, the bottle makes applying the product much easier when compared with the small tubes. Excellent threadlocker that works and can be undone with a left turn of the screw head or bolt. Permatex Threadlocker Blue is an exceptional product.

Good Stuff
Assembling outdoor gate mechanisms and used it on bolts from 5/16 to 5/8. Had to dismount a few a couple weeks later and wasn’t difficult. I could feel the resistance from the cured sealer. Followed directions and proof was in the results. Cleaned the removed bolts, re-applied sealer and they went back with no issues. Confident it works well.

Great product.
This squeeze bottle is much easier to use than the tubes that Loctite usually comes in.

Works, but be careful
Works well, protects from loosening of bolts via vibration. Creates uniform and reliable threading resistance. However, two tips: first, this stuff is poisonous (causes cancer) so make sure to apply very little and not spill at all. Second, it will NOT dry on exposed surfaces, only when trapped between threads without air supply. So puncture the tip with a TINY hole, close cap, shake well, squeeze out the TINIEST dab on to the male threads, then assemble and keep assembled for at least day before opening again, if ever.
