Mechanical Pocket Watches for Men Vintage Pocket Watch with Chain

Pro: This Steam Punk watch was a gift for my boyfriend and he is absolutely thrilled with the looks, build quality is solid, see-through movement both front and back. The gold glitters inside and out in both daylight and soft lighting. He has only had it for a week, but reports it's keeping excellent time. He takes great pleasure in winding it twice a day, about 10 turns each time, as was recommended by the seller. The watch has a wood look circular band that was not reddish as shown in the photo, but a deep dark wood color instead. That could be why someone returned it and it was sold "as new in original packaging" for a few dollars off. I'm always happy to save a few dollars! Con: None yet. I can't comment on the durability yet, but it's so beautiful that I think it's a great value. Personally, I would like to purchase it again if it's ever available with a battery option also. Recommended!

Before I review this product I want to dispel an error that I noticed in the questions about this product. Someone stated that they were disappointed that the watch face had a mistake on it. The mistake being it uses iiii instead of iv to notate the "4" position on the face. This is not a mistake. Every watch face that I have seen or can think of uses iiii instead of iv. This is a tradition that goes back centuries. The reason for it is somewhat unclear but their seem to be 3 main ideas. 1) iv has not always represented 4. This is mainly a modern times notation. Why I don't know but some say they did not use IV since it had to do with the god Jupiter. 2) There's a story about King Louis XIV that says he insisted it should be the other way and made a clock maker change it. I find this hard to believe as this type of watch face existed before King Louis XIV. 3) Another common reason is that it's for aesthetics/symmetry. I am not sure what the real reason is but I do know that when it comes to Roman numeral watch faces, iiii is the correct way to mark "4". This watch DOES NOT have an error on its face. Regarding the review of the watch itself... This watch is surprisingly heavy and well built. The wood grain look is lighter than pictured but still very beautiful. The cut out in front and back add to the styling and seeing the inner workings is stunning. Retro is in right now. This pocket watch is definitely eye catching and unique. For the money, the quality is amazing.

If you're confused on how it functions, I can help. Original watches weren't battery powered, just like the old ones, you need to wind it up.

It was definitely smaller than anticipated, and the front clasp was definitely wobbly, like it didnt feel like it was screwed all the way on. However; i bought it as a gift for my boyfreind for valentines day and he loved it regardless. It looks very fancy, and for the price it was good.

Keeps time as it should my husband loves this watch

It is a beautiful timepiece, worthy of the five-star reviews, but I must state an important reservation. The middle of the watch has a black design, and the black hour and minute hands do not extend to the Roman numerals. This makes it very difficult to read the time. I so much wanted to use this watch, esp. because of the mechanical function and the beautiful design, but unfortunately my older eyes just don't make it as a watch I can actually use. I suggest using the magnifying feature to see what the face of the watch really looks like before buying. This manufacturer makes other watches that are much more readable. As beautiful as it is, I just can't use it. I hate to give a less than positive review

Husband likes and uses daily

Bought this watch in Jan 2, 2025. Great looking and worked great. Then on Feb 20 I wound the watch but it did not start. It was not a costly watch but should have lasted more then a few weeks.

I hate that it's not actual wood how it looks and the fact that there's resin defects on it, so I had to sand and buff it myself. It's still nice and all but it took more hassle than I was hoping for.
