Perfect lock for my side garden gate onto the pavement. Sturdy, easy to fit and can be used either way locking to the left or to the right. The key can be left in the lock and still opened from the other side bonus! Cheap quality lock can’t recommend highly enough.

Owned this gate lock for a little over a year and the key stopped working on one side of the lock. Okay, not great I thought but reasonably cheap so I purchased a new one for a quick replacement. Out of curiosity I took the old lock apart to see why it had failed - The good news is, it was 2 internal screws that had worked loose. Tightened those up, put it back together and it's good as new so I now have a spare in the shed. I would say its worth the money and if it does seem broken, quite easy to take apart and repair (within reason). Makes life a lot easier than using old-school bolts and padlocks especially when operating in the dark.

A truly poor rip-off of the highly successful GateMate product. I mistakenly purchased this low quality copy of the GateMate 70mm lock and what a pathetic copy it is. Until now, I have never seen a brass product rust before. Everything about this lock screams 'cheap, poor quality and unreliable'. For starters, the key barrel began to rust after just a week; as did the screws that secure the lock surround to the outside of the door. A few days later, the key wouldn't release when the lock was engaged; taking several attempts before finally releasing it. Then came the lock jamming nightmare where I was unable to unlock the door because the cylinder would not turn. After trying all 5 keys and oiling the cylinder repeatedly, I finally had to result to forcing the lock to get it open. This is an appalling product that is likely to fail permanently and is being returned as defective so that I can replace it with the tried and tested GateMate version.

I have a Gate mate lock on an outside gate which has worked really well over the last three years. I went to buy another for a gate leading to a lean to at the side of the house. I thought that I would try this lock as it was significantly cheaper than the Gate mate. It works as well as the Gate mate over the last year. The only negative would be that the steel bar has begun to rust even though it is protected from the elements. The Gate mate has no protection from the elements and hasn't rusted at all, so the quality is better. I would recommend this lock but doubt whether it will be as durable as a Gate mate long-term.

This lock is a bit hit and miss. Sometimes it open sometimes it doesn't. From both sides. I've no idea why. Perhaps the manufacturer can explain !? . It appears to be on a spring. Which at times seems impossible to open. We bought it then end of 2025.but didn't get the gate until June, which means I can't send it back. Mores the pity. I am disabled so as it's a bit hit and miss if I get the gate open isn't very good
