I'm on my 3rd box of the 6 pairs box. These work great. I alternate with these and the foam inserts (the ones you roll between your fingers to make warm and skinny, and then insert INTO the external ear canal). These stay on the OUTSIDE of the ear canal. They create an air-tight covering over the opening of your ear canal. No air, no noise ;-D You can probably get 4-6 uses per pair, depending on how much you sweat at night, how clean your ear is, or if you get any hair caught into the putty while applying these. Also, how you store these will affect your amount of use. If they fall on the floor when not in use, you better believe that they will pick up any hair/lint/dust that is on the surface it lands on (carpet, hardwood, etc). They don't last as long as the foam ear plugs because they do lose their stickiness over time with each use, and they pick up/stick to debris more than the foam ones. I did notice that when I would remove them after waking up I would have somewhat liquidy earwax at the tip that was "most inserted" into my ear. Probably since there isn't airflow into your ear canal, the ear wax may get warm as you sleep at night, and melt (since ear wax is fatty acid with debris). No biggy, it wasn't gross or a ton of quantity. I was recently using the foam ear plugs a lot because they are easy and comfortable and last longer. However, I noticed that I had some random chaffing inside my left ear canal that wasn't going away. Maybe I needed a fresh pair of foam earplugs, who knows. I remembered I had these silicone earplugs, they eliminate noise and stay OUTSIDE your ear. I live on a busy street and my bedroom is in the front of the home (nearer to the street). I think they eliminate noise MORE than the foam ear plugs! I was so happy that I had them on hand and will continue to use. It's almost scary how much you CAN'T hear with these in...so use only if you need/want almost COMPLETE silence. I don't think I'd use them if I had a baby or lived with someone who may need help at night (or whenever you sleep) because you probably wouldn't hear their cry/call. Same goes for if you are "On-call" for work or something, unless your phone ringer was set to HIGH, you may miss the call. These work that well. Inserting/applying takes a little practice because at first try you still hear sounds, but you really need to push in a little into the ear canal to get that SEAL and spread over the external ear enough that it sticks and won't fall off with movement. It's easy, don't worry, just takes a try or two. They stick great, unless you're sweaty, then they may not stick as well, or if you have excess ear wax that gets warm and melts and loosens the grip. I love them and have gotten used to using them and their pro's and con's. Overall, 2 thumbs Up!

Short version: These work better than any other earplugs... by a LOT. Knead them to warm/soften them before you apply them to your ears. Do NOT try to jam them inside your ear canal, just put them in the shell of your ear. Wait about 10 (or so) minutes until your body warms up the earplugs, and smooth them a little more, for more coverage of your ear. My full review: We live in an apartment. Overhead, our neighbors and their dog are noisy, stomping overhead when they get home from a late shift at work, or a late night at the clubs. Next door, two yappy dogs bark at everything, and join the fray when the upstairs dog barks. And then there's the mockingbird in some tree near our bedroom window. Apparently, male mockingbirds make loud calls, all night, when they're in season... which can go on for weeks. Ugh. So, I tried another brand of earplugs - not Mack's - that were made of foam and had lots of rave reviews. They were pretty to look at, came in a cute carrying case, and even a little tool to make sure the earplugs were thorougly wedged into my ears. They didn't work. I mean... they really didn't work. No matter what I tried, they fell out of my ears within seconds. And I don't really like jamming things into my ear canals, anyway. Since those had such glowing reviews, it took me months to try something else. I thought my ears were a weird shape or something. In desperation, I tried Mack's Pillow Soft Silicone Putty Earplugs (that's this product), and I could not believe the difference. Yes, the earplugs feel a little weird. They don't go inside your ear canal. Instead, you press & smooth them so they fit the "shell" part of your ear, and fully cover the opening to your ear canal. (The putty is a little sticky, so the earplugs stay in place.) But wow... SUCH a difference! Now, whether it's a noisy upstairs neighbor, a yappy dog next door, or a mockingbird with no manners at all, I can actually sleep again. So far, I've used one set (of six in the package), about six or seven nights. They're still sticky enough to continue using, so this is a good value. I'm still getting used to how they feel, but there's no way I'll use any other earplugs. These are that great. These block nearly all the annoying sounds, and even my husband's occasional snoring. But, oddly, I can hear a slight (only slight) hum from the fan in the bedroom. (That's not a problem. It doesn't keep me awake, and may even mask some sounds.) So, if your alarm clock is near your bed, I'm pretty sure you'll hear it, even when wearing these earplugs. (Test that on a night when you don't absolutely have to wake up on time, the next morning.) I had no idea how much my sleep was interrupted, until I tried these earplugs. It took me a few nights to get used to actually sleeping soundly, instead of being in a constant state of anticipation/anxiety, that noises were imminent. But now... well, I don't often given five-star reviews to products, but these earplugs earned that, and my gratitude, as well. My advice is: if you're desperate for a good night's sleep, skip the foam earplugs and go directly to these, instead.

When I went to college I was having a really difficult time because I'm an extremely light sleeper. I was constantly being woken up by noises. I purchased some earplugs at a local store, but they hurt to wear for long periods. So I ended up doing a bunch of research on top rated earplugs and ordered a bunch of different ones to try. I ordered so many Amazon emailed me about changing my account to a business account because they thought I was ordering for a business. I tried them all out and Mack's Pillow Soft Silicone Earplugs were the only ones comfortable enough to wear all night. In fact, they didn't cause any pain at all. Like any earplug they aren't going to completely eliminate all noise, but they do reduce it a lot. The only bad thing is that as they lose stickiness they let in more sound. They aren't like normal earplugs where you stick them in your ear canal. They're soft moldable silicone that's sticky and you roll one into a ball, then place it on top of your ear canal, then flatten it over top so it's covering your ear canal. Due to the stickiness they stick and stay there. Though after each use they lose some stickiness. I typically have to start using a new pair after 5 days. Which is the other bad thing about them- you have to replace them more often than regular earplugs. They're worth it for me though since it means I sleep well. Even though I've long since graduated college I've continued using them since I get much better sleep with them. I highly recommend them if regular earplugs haven't worked for you for sleeping due to pain and especially if you're a side sleeper. One note though is that if you have longer hair you'll need to wear it up when using these while sleeping because otherwise your hair will end up getting stuck in the earplugs.

These Mack's Pillow Soft Silicone Earplugs are absolute lifesavers. I originally bought them for sleeping, but now I’m convinced they’re tiny magical blobs of peace and quiet. They’re incredibly soft and comfortable, much better than the foam earplugs that always felt like I was stuffing tiny pool noodles into my ears. The silicone molds easily and creates a great seal without pressure or discomfort, even when sleeping on my side. The noise reduction is seriously impressive. Snoring? Reduced. Traffic? Barely noticeable. Neighbor apparently rearranging an entire living room at midnight? Gone. For the first time in ages, I actually woke up feeling rested instead of personally attacked by noise. I also like that they stay in place throughout the night and don’t leave my ears sore in the morning. They’re easy to use, reusable for multiple nights if kept clean, and perfect for sleeping, travel, studying, or surviving long flights with crying babies nearby. Honestly, these little earplugs deserve an award for emotional support and sleep restoration. Highly recommend for anyone who values silence and sanity

As the only earplugs that'll fit my tiny ear canals, I'm grateful. They aren't very good at blocking snoring or speech. They just aren't at the ideal frequency for these earplugs. Also wish dB blockage was greater. But they're the Best I can find. One day maybe someone will discover ideal material snore blocking & vocal range blocking. And be a form factor to fit even tiny ear canals. And be comfortable. These are comfy, until ears sweat. Still they're more comfy than other ear plugs. Even if sweat is slightly annoying or itchy. Long hair has a tendency to get caught in them if sleep with them in. Over all coup, but great, but best I've found. I've even bought CUSTOM, as well as baby earplugs. Both can be expensive. So I keep coming back to these. Nothing is truly designed for snoring or Talking. Or small ear canals. Noise cancelling headphones do NOT block talking OR snoring at all, no matter what obnoxious loudmouths gaslight you with. In fact, they can MAGNIFY nearby conversations. What they do is block frequencies of, say, air conditioner, or gym equipment, or airplane airflow. Now suddenly, you can hear conversions without that background noise! 😔. Anyway, I use Masks earplugs. Plus Bose Noise cancelling headphones. Plus play *2* different audio sources at the same time through the headphones (so high volume of 1 hopefully covers whenever there islow volume in the other. And turn on a fan for additional background noise to try masking the snoring. AND "sleep"in the other room. NOPE! Nothing effectively blocks snoring. I stay awake all night, tired. sleepy. exhausted. feeling SICK from lack of sleep. Except micro nodding-off. It's horrible. OMAR somebody find a cure for snoring, or an effective block for snoring & taking. PLEASE. In the man time, Macks use probably as good as you can find.

I'm a very light sleeper, and I'm constantly being woken up by kids, pets, spouse, everything. Foam earplugs have always been uncomfortable and unreliable, and even a loud fan doesn't cut it. After trying probably my fourth style of foam earplugs and not being able to acclimate to any of them, I came across these. I prefer them by a large margin. They're easier to put in, stay all night (even as a side sleeper), and they're more comfortable. They definitely don't cancel out sound entirely but they do muffle small household noises enough that I don't wake as often or as fully, so I can drift back off quickly. For the first couple of nights, I found that the sound of my own breathing was amplified by having my ears covered. It was kind of strange and distracting at first, but I got used to it surprisingly quickly. They can be reused but I find that they only retain enough stickiness for two or three wears, at least in the winter when they need to be squeezed and warmed a little prior to putting them in; people who don't sleep on their sides can probably get at least one more use out of a pair, I'm guessing. I have long hair that I wear down to sleep, and I occasionally get a strand or two stuck in the silicone, but not much. As an unexpected bonus, the hardshell case they come in is actually pretty sturdy. They make a nice little portable organizer for small items in a bag or drawer. I wouldn't put anything precious inside, but they're nice for corralling lip balms, hair ties, paperclips etc.

I use these for all sorts of unconventional things! They work really well to hold table top decor and wall decor (along with normal hanging hardware) in place without damaging the surface of either. They keep things from sliding or moving when needed and you just peel them off and reuse. This is a quality product (doesn’t fall apart) and stays soft with great moldability and are just the right size.

I've used the Mack's brand of silicone ear plugs for sleeping over the last few years. I always follow the instructions and never allow the silicone to enter my ear canal. Not even a little bit. I use these ear plugs as intended by creating a "seal" around my ear canal rather than shoving the plug into the ear canal. This is exactly as instructed. In July 2020, one day I woke up and took the ear plugs out of my ears only to discover I was experiencing deafness in my left ear...as though I still had an ear plug in. I gently stuck the tip of my finger in my ear and felt the very obvious presence of silicone deep in my ear canal. I could barely reach it but it was obviously silicone. I didn't try to remove it myself because a quick Google search will tell you how dangerous attempting that could be. I had to have it removed by an ENT which of course costs much more than these $4 ear plugs. When the ENT removed it, the silicone was elongated and in the shape of my ear canal. To reiterate: I did not ever push the silicone into my ear canal. Aside from that large chunk, the ENT also found further crumbly bits of silicone deep in my ear canal. My doctor believes the silicone melted into my ear canal as I slept. Unbelievable that this risk isn't mentioned anywhere. Here's where it gets ultra embarrassing: I foolishly used this brand of silicone plugs again..and sure enough, I woke up today with yet another bit of silicone deep in my ear canal. It's painful this time around and seems much deeper than before. I could t have been any more careful about how I used them considering what happened before. I stupidly convinced myself that what happened before was a fluke or maybe a mistake on my part. I have loud roommates and had lost my foam ear plugs. The real mistake was attempting to use these awful ear plugs again. I was desperate, clearly, and took a risk. Can't wait to walk into my ENT's office again and pay for another in office procedure. Thanks, Mack's, for the pain, frustration, medical bills and temporary deafness. This was a brand new pair as, again, I follow the recommendations to a T.

I can really barely hear any loud sounds when using those plugs. The only disadvantage of them is, that my hair use to stick to it and then it causes pain to remove my hair from the earplug material. So, now, I always use it with a scrunchie. However, I cannot use scrunchie when in the bad, sleeping, so there I have a problem:/ Otherwise, it works well in not letting any sound in.

Unfortunately, my home is now next to an Apartment Construction, and the activity generates all kinds of noise at all decibel levels - metal banging , loud thud sounds , high pitch humming , from 65 dB up to 90 dB. ( and they simply don’t care ). I have tried all kinds of noise cancellation solutions, over the last 10 months. 1. 3M Ear Plugs ( Orange ones ) 2. Loop Dream - Silicone Memory Foam 3. Active NC(ANC) Headphones 4. Mack’s Silicone Earplugs The only thing that works best( for me )are the Mack’s Silicone Earplugs. Below are pros/cons of Mack’s. Pros: —— 1. Blocks noise really well. 2. Fits the contours of ear very well - the silicone adapts to the shape of your ears. 3. Lesser discomfort compared to 3M, for long time wear. Cons: ——- 1. Gets dirty with use. Need to replace after 6-10 days of use , or lesser ( depending on usage) 2. Expensive. 6 pack pair costs ~ ₹ 1000 ( as of Mar 2026) What to Buy? ——————- 1. If are fed up with noise, and nothing you tried has worked well , and your mental sanity depends on effectively blocking the most noise, and you have highly sensitive hearing, buy Mack’s. 2. Next best thing to buy are the 3M plugs. ( orange ones) Don’t Buy ————- Avoid Loop Dream at all costs. ( Loop Dreams simply don’t work. ). Hope this helps. Good Luck.

My roommate and I bought these because we moved into an apartment right next to a train crossing - the trains blow their whistles all night. We both noticed our sleep quality went down as we were waking several times a night. These earplugs have made a significant difference. You can still hear the trains when you're awake with the earplugs in, but they muffle the sound enough that it no longer wakes us up while we're sleeping. I was concerned that these plugs would make me sleep through my alarm, but so far, it hasn't been an issue. They're not uncomfortable or particularly hard to use - you can pretty much tell whether they are in correctly or not based on what you can hear. When they're in correctly, the sound reminds me of being underwater. I fall asleep on my side but turn a lot throughout the night, and they haven't fallen out yet. Overall, I highly recommend these and was impressed with the price, considering how well they've worked for me. I'll continue to buy them as replacements when the current pairs get worn out. I'm not sure how long they'll last but the texture does tend to hold hair/grime so I will be replacing them fairly frequently. But I highly recommend them for anyone looking to fall asleep in a busy, loud area.
