BLACK+DECKER 20V MAX Cordless Hedge Trimmer with Power Command Powercut, 22-Inch (LHT321FF)

I recently have been upgrading all my black and decker tools from the old 18v style ones, to these newer 20v with the smaller longer lasting batteries. I looked at the different 22" hedge trimmers and discovered something about this one that I really wanted. The button on top to help with jams. I liked my last hedge trimmer(which was still working but I gave it to my daughter in law who did not have one) The only downfall was that when it got jammed I would have to stop and unjam it. With the button I could work out the jam without stopping. I was sold! The one that I bought came with a 20v battery(1.5 size) and a charger. I plugged the battery in to the charger and it was fully charged in less than two hours. I like that the chargers and batteries are small. I also like that the light flashes while it's charging and then is a steady light when it's fully charged. I did have to put the handle and the guard on. The instructions said that the screws were partly in the unit and to unscrew them. MIne were fully in and tightened and sort of hard to get out. I was afraid I was going to strip the screws, but carefully removed them and then screwed in the handle and guard. It really only took me a few minutes. The trimmer fits in my hands well and the weight balances out to give me control. I am a short older female and I had no problem managing this tool. I tried it out this morning and it cuts like my bushes were butter. So easy! I love the 22" size because it's big enough that you can finish a job quickly but not so big that you can not round out bushes that need to be rounded. It was easy to work with and I felt fit in my hands. There is a thing you push in to release the safety and then you can press the button to keep the blades cutting. You only have to press that in when you first start it and there is one on each side so if it works better for you if you are left or right handed it makes getting started easier. The button to release a jam is right on top so you do not have to turn it off. The button releases the jam by slowing down the action so it can either cut through or allow you to move the trimmer. I do not have a lot to trim, and my battery had no slow down while I was using it. I can't wait to go out and trim again. What a great new toy. I am exceptionally happy with this hedge trimmer and cannot recommend it highly enough! It offers Extremely effective cutting, is light and Easy to handle, has a long battery life, theres no cord or gas involved, its fairly priced and, a serious time saver.- it takes me 1/4 the time of hand cutting. Three years ago, I planted many gorgeous bougainvillea which are prolific and have killer thorns. I bought this because even hand trimming them regularly, the bougainvillea were growing out of control. I started trimming two days ago and am thrilled with how easy this trimmer was to get going and use, how beautifully it cuts and shapes, its power, the fact that its light and will cut through rather thick branches and, has already saved me many hours of time.. My bougainvillea have not looked this nicely groomed in a while. This would not be for everyone.... but, in case its helpful to you. I've successfully trimmed the grass (weeds) in my small yard with this tool, it worked very well, saved me the expense of hiring someone and, was a serious workout. I am particular, on a budget and 62 years old. I cannot recommend this hedge trimmer highly enough. Buy it!!! And,Thank you Amazon for this product!

This hedge trimmer is excellent. Easy to use and cuts through everything I have put it through. Cut up to 3/4" shrub branches easily. Smooth and quiet operation. Light and effortless to use. Only con is the battery life is short. The thicker the cuts the less the battery lasts. It has done everything so nice I will just order another battery. The battery takes a long time to get a full job so If needed for over a half an hour you really should have 2 batteries unless you just want to do some today and some tomorrow. Updated 6/06/2022: Excellent clippers. Super heavy duty. Battery last approximately 1 hour. I ordered a 2nd battery and can now finish our acre yard. Cuts like new. Never had any problems or hiccups. Definitely the best we have ever owned. Stays sharp. Just clean, oil, and put away. Works flawlessly!

My initial expectation was sacrificing some power for the convenience on not lugging around a cord or more likely two pieces of a cord by the time I finish, was well worth it. I must say that I am extremely pleased with the B + D 20V MAX Cordless Hedge Trimmer. I have a large, fenced lot and the neighbors have all types of bushes, shrubs and trees that butt up against and in most cases, right through the fence. After charging up the battery, I decided to see how the new tool would tackle this tough job. I could not believe how well the 20V trimmer cut through large blue spruce branches, arborvitaes, dogwoods and anything else I needed to cut back. It is very light and I was able to reach right over the fence with one hand and then stabilize with the left hand. On two occasions, the trimmer jammed however the POWER COMMAND button fixed the issue in seconds. Quite impressive. I finished all of the trimming in about 30 minutes and the battery never slowed. Overall, very impressed with the power and functionality of the hedge trimmer. This is a must buy especially at the price point.

When my B&D electric Hedgehog trimmers needed sharpened, the price came back more expensive than a new set of trimmers. So I went shopping on Amazon and after reading reviews, loved what I was reading about this model. What used to be an all-day job to do 15 large bushes and clean up turned into 2.5 hours!!! On top of that, they are so quiet I think I could wear my MP3 next time and listen to books. They kind of sounded like a remote control plane flying close overhead. No ringing in the ears!! This model is so light and maneuverable that I was able to do the bushes in a more rounded manner rather than square. The wife loved this, saying it made the bushes look so soft that you could fall into them. Here is a big point: TIME!!!! Until I myself started running out of steam, I was averaging 5 minutes per bush (approx. 4-foot x 4-foot x 4-foot high each) x 15 bushes. With these trimmers, what used to be an all-day process was start to dumpster in 2.5 hours. As for battery use, fantastic!! I did switch batteries mid-job just to see if I was losing any power and so as not to run 1 battery too far down, but I believe I could have finished on one 20 volt battery if needed. I did not notice a post-change power bump, so I think was not necessary. I have slowly switched all of my tools to 20-volt B&D and now have 4 batteries and chargers. I recommend having at least 2 since I did change and so as not to overheat your batteries. I did find a use for the Power Command several times and loved it!!! When I bound up, instead of wrestling the trimmers free, I simply hit the Power Command button and it trimmed the culprits clean. I cannot recommend these enough!!! Having used B&D Hedgehogs for 17 years, these are a great replacement for that corded model that is no longer available from what I am seeing on Amazon. Enjoy!! Jim Patton

I love this trimmer. We have other Black and Decker lawn tools that use the same batteries, so I wanted to get this trimmer since it could also use the same ones. The batteries really hold a charge well and last a long time, and this trimmer is so easy to use. There is virtually no maintenance since it uses batteries (instead of gas) and I trimmed most of our bushes very quickly with just one battery. I have not tried it on really thick branches, though, but it seems to cut through 1/2" and slimmer branches with ease. I used to fuss with gas-powered lawn equipment, but it was constantly clogging up or not running, and I really got tired of it and moved to these rechargeable battery driven devices. I had an old trimmer that used an electric cord, but I couldn't reach all our bushes. This trimmer freed me to move on to bushes around our pond and house that I'd had to trim with a pair of hand clippers before (or just let go "natural") and I can't get over how fast and easy this trimmer makes my work. Now, I'm out searching for things that need to be trimmed. It is light, fast, and the charge on one battery lasts quite a while, although I always carry a second, charged battery in my pocket. So, as they say, "So far, so good."

These are much sturdier with better cutting blades than the prior generation (still on sale) and can cut small branches - I have yet to use the over-power setting for thick branches. While the older one works, it is slow and under powered. This one is nearly as powerful as a corded version. Just be sure not to get your fingers near the blades. I have yet to run through an entire battery charge, so it works for me! BYW: The 20V battery looks the same, but is a later model than used in the prior generation. The batteries from the older generation B&D will work on the Trimmer and vice versa, but the chargers seem incompatible. You need to use the right charger, which is simple since they look totally different - this charger comes without a mountable case, making it very light and saving plastic.

This hedge clipper is well worth the money. Have only used it for a couple of weeks. Battery operated and can be used for an hour at least before recharging. I find it a bit heavy to use with one hand - which on a wide and high hedge is the only way to reach far - but apart from that it works perfectly and the extra button to cut thick branches is a bonus. The Black & Decker interchangeable batteries for different tools is a great idea. Recommend purchase.

This hedge trimmer works really well, it is light weight and easy to use. The battery lasts much longer than 45 minutes; I was able to get about an hour and a half of usage out of it. I was very impressed given how inexpensive it is.
