Universal Air Conditioner KT 4037 A/C Compressor and Component Kit

Installed this compressor on my Mazda CX-7 and it seems to be doing the job. Ice cold. They are not easy to install, but that is not a reflection on the part. Everything on the CX-7 is hard to install.

Purchased this knowing that I would only use the ac compressor, oil, filter and some of the seals. I put it on a 2001 Tahoe with dual climate control/ rear AC so I new the accumulator wouldn’t be work.Compressor fit and finish was great, swapped everything over In a couple hours. Compressor had a port on the back for high pressure switch which was a pleasant surprise. Had it charged and blowing ice cold same day, I would definitely purchase products from uac again.

Mechanic said coil was bad, it blew 3 fuses. Wasted $100 worth of r134a and had to go to autozone to get a compresso for over $350. Maybe just my bad luck who knows anyway by trying to save ended up wasting more money.

I installed the A/C pump and it was perfect. The evaporator however was a little smaller and the mount for the main hose was welded on vertically instead of at a 3 o'clock position. The hose is not flexible so I had to force it into position to be able to attach it.I am concerned about it not sealing long term and perhaps causing the hose itself to fail from the stress.I did not have time to request a new replacement and I am committed to the install now since the unit is charged.I the picture you can see the old versus the new. The hose is molded and not intended to be forced to conform as I had to do.

So I ordered a compressor kit, great price. Recieved the kit and discovered the compressor was incorrect. Contacted the seller and apparently there are two options for the vehicle I'm working on. The seller overnighted the correct compressor to me. Could not ask for better service

The compressor bolted up and plugged in fine, good alignment on the bokt hols. Pully lined up correctly and the belt alignment was true.The drier fitting face was incorrectly machined and would not allow a seal, had to mill off .008. Had the same issue with the depth of the compressor fitting faces, .008. Luckily I own a machine shop, so making them fit correctly wasn't a big deal for me. I suppose, in theory, you could install a green "O" ring, on each side of the line seal and get the system to seal. Because I have tge equipment, I chose to just re-machine tge fitting faces. If you want a straight forward, no issue installation, this is not the kit. Took me an hour to change the compressor and drier. Then it took me 6 hours of chasing leaks, pulling everything back off, fixing the fitting faces, putting it all back together for a second time. If I didn't have the old unit to compare with, I would have sent it back, instead of fix it.

This was a lesson learned for me lol. My Tahoe says it's a 2000 but was built late 1999 so it still has the 1999 style dryer with a junction block. AC compressor is the same though. Funny thing is the dryer that comes in this bundle will fit my 2009 Silverado. I guess it wasn't all bad 🤣
