FLIR Ocean Scout TK Monocular, Dark Gray

IR scopes can cost thousands of dollars. However, if you want get your feet wet then this is the model for you. It's not military quality views but it does an amazing job of seeing in the dark on a budget. For example, on a warm humid night I was looking through the scope next to some woods on my property when I noticed several heat sources about 40 ft away. It turns out there were four deer I would have never known were there. The trick is that you need to use the best preset that will contrast heat sources compared to the background. Cats and birds are hard to see regardless as they have smaller heat signatures. Basically, the bigger the object the better it sees. The colder and less humid the night the better it sees. For this scope it's all about the contrast of the target vs the background. Do some research about the advantages and limitations of FLIR if you have more questions. Pro's: Great price, has seven different settings to help you see objects depending on conditions, takes pictures and videos, use day or night, no light source required. Cons: The image is not real sharp beyond 75-100 yards, battery life is about 2 hours, slow refresh rate on monitor. Don't expect to track fast moving cars. Works best in cool conditions. To sum this up. If you want to track Taliban from thousands of feet up the be prepared to spend $$$$ or higher. If you want to see game or human sized objects across a field at 100 yards or see if that strange car parked at the end of the road was recently driven then this is for you. Personally, I believe I made a great purchase.

As a Deputy Sheriff and just receiving this FLIR yesterday, I know that it will be very beneficial to my job. Using it last night, any heat sources were very clear. Excellent bang for the buck. Catching 1 burgulary, assault or other illegal activities in the night is worth the purchase 10 fold!

Bought this as it was advertised to use on the boat. Once in a while we are coming back on the lake that has logs floating in a dark so it was a good idea to buy one of these. you can see clearly about 20 feet, you can detect a person about 40 feet away, thats about it. no 100 yards/300 feet. don't buy.

I am not quite sure why this product was given one star by another reviewer, as my experiences with this product are nothing but positive. The item arrived in a new sealed box with everything it's supposed to come with; the flir unit, lanyard, and USB cable. This item is small and compact, 6 x 2 x 2, as compared to the more expensive and bigger models (240/320). This unit is extremely easy to use, has a very crisp and clear picture, and multiple color pallettes to suit your needs. I would estimate its usable range to be about 100 yards.Overall very worth the money and I highly recommend. Also, as a side note, I can distinguish no difference between the regular model and this one, the ocean model, other than the color.

The range is super low so don't expect military grade TGP FLIR pod tech

This is the best product that you can get for the money… It has upped my hog hunting game exponentially.

I purchased this unit and then returned it the day after I received it. Very disappointing. It works really well for about 25 yards and then beyond that unless you're in a wide open area, it's not very crisp. Didn't work for our purposes.

Works as advertised , I've only used it a couple days in the city in winter . Really cool viewing color modes, picture ability is a unique feature ,eye cup is essential. Get one you won't regret it 👀👍
