Question 1

Does this game replace Munchkin 1 (the original game) or can it be used with Munchkin 1?

Accepted Answer

Hi, according to my son, the cards are exactly the same as Munchkin 1 (original) the only bonus to this set is that you have a board to move your pieces on so you don't have to use other items to try to remember which level you are on. If you already have the original, you would probably not want to get this.Hope that helps.

Question 2

what is the object...how do you play?

Accepted Answer

The object is to get your character to level 10, you start at level 1. You gain a level by defeating monsters and by certain cards. While doing this, you also try to prevent your opponents from getting to level 10. Each turn you 'kick open the door'. This may show a monster which you must fight or another card which you get to keep. If you can not defeat the monster on your own, you may ask someone to help you. Usually you'll have to bribe them with some of the monster's treasure; they drop treasure when defeated. Your opponents can play cards to help the monster defeat you and you can play cards as well. Total the points, highest number wins. If you defeat the monster you go up a level and get the number of treasure cards listed. Treasures include weapons, armor, spells, free levels, all kind of neat stuff. It's a great game. Munchkin Deluxe is even better because it includes a scoring board. Not really needed but makes it easier. We even use the board when we play Munchkin Cthulhu with all the expansions. Hope this helps you.

Question 3

Is this game simple enough for a family/friend game night with people who haven't played games like this before? (We're all ages 25-50, but most of us haven't played anything too complex before. I want to start looking into games that are more complex/involve more strategy/thought, and this looks like it could be a …

Accepted Answer

This game is a little bit more in depth then most board games. There is a lot of strategy/thought involved and a fair amount of little rules to keep track of. The rules are about 4-6 pages long, if I remember correctly off the top of my head. Once you get the general flow of the game, it can move at a good pace. Some games can take 30 minutes and others can take two hours, depending on number of players. The maximum players I would probably suggest is four, especially with new players. Hope this helps!

Question 4

Is this game good for two people to play or does it loose some of its features when there are only two players?

Accepted Answer

I think it looses some of its features but my husband and I have tried it. I would recommend Dominion or Love Letter if you want to play with two players. We seem to favor those for the two of us. Munchkin Deluxe is still one of our favorite overall games though. :)
