Pretty good storage/shelving, I'd give 4.5 if possible
I did NOT make a bunny cage, I used it for storage. I can only give a 5 star score, since 4.5 isn't an option. Basically, it is what it says on the tin. A few people said it required tools or a lot of brute force, they might not have been doing it right. It snapped together easily, it's very stable, I did NOT need the zip ties to reinforce it. It's holding textbooks, shoes, and heavy reams of paper without any problem. Made three shelves and a bin like on the box, though I put the bin ont he other side, and there are a lot of combination. Two extra connectors and one panel let you change how you have it as well. I could tell how strong the connectors were when I tried to disconnect it to change how I had it, not easy, which is good. I ended up cutting up a box and using the zip ties to make cardboard floors, so I could stow small things there. Only 2 minor problems, the instructions sucked and I kind of had to figure it out on my own. It's somewhat wobbly when empty, but the weight of stuff keeps it down. But what did you expect for 20 dollar wire panels? All in all worth it if you want storage on the cheap. Great for dorms.

Not used as directed = guinea pig cage success!
I bought two sets of these and some zip ties - like many, I wanted them for a C&C cage for our guinea pig. I figured, two sets of storage cubes would still be cheaper than a pair of Midwest cages shoved together, and in our circumstances, also provide more space (we aren't putting a "grid lid" on it) - win all around. (Feel free to skip this paragraph - it's backstory.) We received Miss Piggy from a neighbor in a store-bought cage, and after doing a bit of research, found out how insufficient those are (space-wise) for a guinea pig! Our first go-to, since money was an issue, was to pick up a hard-set kiddie pool, put a thin layer of just-in-case bedding in it, and some cardboard boxes with holes cut so she could at least have a play area. That worked fine, but we couldn't leave her in there ALL the time, and our attempts to add a "loft" to the interior of her cage were utterly unsatisfactory. Even the crinkle tube we rigged to the top of the cage became problematic after a couple weeks; while she could make the leap to get into it like a champ, the noise of that at all hours in an otherwise-silent house had all three of my boys getting up to investigate! We had to look for other options and discovered C&C pictures that piqued our interest... and now you're up to speed. Well, our C&C cage is missing one of the C's. We happen to be fortunate in that one of the boys' beds is a bunk that used to have a slide, with nothing but play area underneath. That space didn't get much use until we cleared out the toys and installed the cage using these cubes under there! We've got a thin sheet of plastic under the fleece (thank you, Internet, for explaining that we don't actually have to keep buying messy bedding!), and since that's on the floor, we don't need the corrugated plastic at this point. Miss Piggy started with a plain rectangular 3x5 area. I realized today that we had enough leftover connectors and grid squares to add on a 1x2 "kitchen" area that sticks out from under the bunk bed, nearest to the wall under a window, which similarly was not getting much use. Not to be outdone, my boys decided that it would "get her some exercise" if we added a few "walls" inside the 3x5 block, so now it looks sort of like a maze with some holey cardboard boxes strewn along the way so she can hide as she goes. Pellet food and water go in the "kitchen," farthest from her salt wheel and hay tray. For a few minutes she just sat there when we put her in. Before long, those wonderful wheeks started and she popcorned like crazy and ventured out of the kitchen in full explorer mode! I know that sometime in the future, we're going to want to make additions and alterations in order to shift some of that horizontal sprawl upwards. For now, though, even without the corrugated plastic, I feel like we have given our baby girl a good outcome. She loves all the space to run around, plus we can easily shift the cage contents to keep her interested in exploring. I love that this arrived on time, and that the connectors were fairly easy to use (it did require some serious pushing, at times, but that just made me feel confident it would hold its configuration). I'm honestly not sure what other reviewers meant when they said they had bad experiences with the connectors; maybe by avoiding the "lid" and the "bottom" we avoided those issues. At any rate, we're delighted with this product, and likely to buy more in the future. Next step - using Miss Piggy's old cage as a "quarantine" chamber, and hopefully adding another piggy! C

It works....
I purchased two of these packages to expand to my existing shelving in my home office. The originals were purchased a few years ago and I expected the same product, with the ability to add on to my existing unit to make a bigger unit. Well, I found that the new ones are flimsier (narrower gauge wire) and I could not attach them to your old ones as the connectors will not work to combine the thicker and thinner wire. As well, because they are flimsier, they will not hold the weight that the older ones did. So if you get these thinking they are like your old ones, well, they are not, so do not plan to attach them to your old ones nor plan on putting the same amount of weight on/in them as you did with your old ones. Still they are a good deal, just not the same quality as before, which is the sole reason they got a 4 rating instead of a 5. Also worth noting, is that while the old ones held together fine for years with just the connectors, these new thinner ones DEFINITELY need the use of zip ties to keep them in place. The zip ties really are not noticeable once it is constructed, but if you order these, also be sure you have some zip ties on hand for construction! (You'll thank me later!) Overall, it was not bad to put together, took a little patience and a bit of hand strength/elbow grease and definitely more time than my other set because of the flimsiness and zip tie issue, but it was not unmanageable. A kid couldn't do it, but think of it as tinker toys for adults and you can put it together. It is a decent looking portable shelving unit which can be constructed to whatever size/shape will fit your needs and can be used almost anywhere in the house from the bathroom to the kids room to the laundry room or sewing room to the closet, or simply as a good organizer in a home office! :) Though a little more cheaply made than previously, I would still purchase again, just simply because of the ease and versatility of this product.

Perfect for the rescue
This is the go to for making humane guinea pig enclosures.

Great product at a fair price
I confess that I've used these before, but not ones purchased from this vendor. They were exactly what I expected and are performing as I'd hoped. I was really amused to see how many people use them as animal enclosures - I never imagined that - since I've always used them for shelving. I'm and artist who requires lots of flexible spaces for my supplies, such as my empty frames, wool for spinning, yarn storage and more. At times I need to hold odd sized objects, so all I need to do is reconfigure the cubes. For shelving books, I use extra grid panels to create half-size spaces, then add extra zip ties to strengthen the structure. I am an absolute believer in using the ties to hold things together tightly, since I sometimes need to move a unit around my studio. The only limit to what one can do with these structures is you own imagination. I also find them well made. The only parts that have broken were my own responsibility from having put too much pressure on them or using them in a way that was not intended - live and learn. Another benefit is that you can add to an existing structure any time you'd like. Good product at a fair price, especially with Prime shipping. Another company was offering them for the same price, but the shipping was 50% of the cost of the units. I really like this product and will be back for more. Oh, and be sure to buy a LOT of zip ties, they go fast. I used nearly 200 to assemble four units into a storage area that ranged from about 2.5 to 4 feet high and 9 feet long. But, it moves easily as one piece and is incredibly sturdy.

Safe for C&C cage
Arrived only 3.5 business days after purchase. I am very impressed by the heavy duty feel of the panels. At first, I was wondering why all of the reviews were hating on the connectors. When I put the first connector on, it felt pretty strong/sufficient. Then I put 2 panels together. This litterally took 5 minutes of pushing and I felt exhausted. There's no way I could possibly put together the 4 boxes of these I bought without zip ties. Too difficult. Probably not even possible. Also, zip ties let you make doors! Each panel measures 14"x14", which has 9x9 squares, each of which has an inside hole size of 1.5"x1.5" To those wondering if this is safe for guinea pigs and rabbits, the answer to both questions is yes! A safe size of a cage hole for a guinea pig is 1.5" or smaller (so they can't get their heads stuck). I can't find a safe size listed online for bunnies, but since bunnies are larger than guinea pigs, whatever hole size is safe for a guinea pig is also safe for a bunny! When buying a C&C cage, a 9x9 square 14"x14" panel will always give you safe results for either animal. DO NOT buy a 8x8 square 14"x14" panel as it is unsafe for guinea pigs (for rabbits I'm not sure about 8x8, but I would stick with 9x9 just to be safe). I would recommend this product with the purchase of zip ties as a C&C cage! P.S. You can use the cardboard insert that holds the connectors as a free ramp! Just pierce the cardboard in two places at the top and you can zip tie it from a half shelf.

Frustrating to assemble, but satisfactory result.
Frustrating to assemble, as reported by several others. I broke pieces off of at least six connectors while I was putting these together. I like the end product, but for the amount of pressure needed to make a secure connection, the plastic is either too brittle or they are poorly designed - perhaps both. The only good thing is that I didn't break off more than one useable side each time - you can rotate the connector and use a different side of it to achieve connection. Inadequate instructions, of course. I purchased two sets of these to store linens in my closet, but due to space considerations only had room for three cubes stacked up next to four cubes, leaving me with two unused "shelves" - so I used zip ties to create half-shelves inside a couple of the cubes.

Great for making the perfect "Cat Condo"
I used 10 boxes of the cubes to make a large outdoor enclosure for my cats. The pieces are easy to work with and once assembled (with the help of zip ties) the enclosure becomes extremely sturdy yet easy to disassemble if necessary. Unlike other reviewers I found all the pieces to be well made. If I had a complaint it would be that each box contains only 17 individual pieces of the wire, not 20 as I expected, which resulted in the needed purchase of an additional box of the cubes. In the end this wasn't a really big deal as I still saved hundred of dollars over the purchase of a kit enclosure and was able to make the enclosure the exact size I wanted and larger than anything I could afford in a kit. UPDATE APRIL 6, 2013 After completion of the original plan I saw I still had more room on the back wall of my house and decided to extend the enclosure as far as I could. In the end I used 11 1/2 boxes of cubes. With some left over cubes I made two benches of varying heights and covered them with rubber matting for comfort. I made a litter box out of a large Rubbermaid storage bin in which I cut a large square hole. The lid keeps out all but the hardest of rains. Anyone interested in seeing the enclosure can reach me at [email protected] and I'll send pictures of the finished enclosure......it's a hit with the cat!
