It's telling that Richard Marx broke into the music business singing backup vocals for Lionel Richie and writing songs with Kenny Rogers and Chicago, for he kept to the straightforward, middle-of-the-road approach of those acts once he became a recording artist in his own right--not that there's anything wrong with that. A dependable hitmaker throughout the late '80s and early '90s, Marx scored with rockers ("Don't Mean Nothing," "Should've Known Better"), and ballads ("Right Here Waiting," "Endless Summer Nights") alike. A good collection of Richard Marx's hits
If you were listening to pop and/or adult contemporary/soft rock music in the late 1980s into the early 1990s you heard Richard Marx's songs, a lot. All nine of his top ten hits, including, of course, the three that went to number one, including Right Here Waiting, Hold on to the Nights, and Satisfied are included here. The other big hits include songs like Endless Summer Nights, Angelia, Hazard, and Now and Forever. Marx has certainly been around long enough that people will know if they like him or not. All my favorites on one CD
I grew up in the 80's so Richard Marx has always been my favorite and always will. It's just sad that he didn't get as much appreciation as he deserved. He has a great voice I love and his songs always go strait to my heart. This CD does that for me. All of the songs on it are my favorites, and these are the original tracks. About 16 or 17 songs as is described. I haven't heard these songs of his in years, and wanted to catch up with them again. I have to say that they are exactly as I remember them! It is a great collection of songs, and it is what the title of the CD is. They are his greatest hits. At least for me they are. I am so happy to hear them again, and very happy I bought this!

solid musician, great lyrics, laid back music
The only reason I purchased this CD in the first place was so I could have a copy of Hazard that I could learn the music from. It is a song that my band is going to be playing soon. I didn't expect to be so surprised by the quality of the other songs as well. I've heard most of them on the radio over the years, I always knew who Richard Marx was but never paid much attention. His songs are very personal and full of rich imagery. I threw the CD into my vehicle (that means it plays over and over for a while) and let it go. I found after a while that I was beginning to sing to the album, and not just the Hazard song. "Hold onto the night," and "Angelia" come to mind the most. I never was much into pop/rock type music but this guys' personality rubbed off on me. I liked the liner notes where he discusses where he got the ideas and how to pull them off. He is a very candid person and I liked that. I believe it helped me to accept the music in a new light. Thanks to Marx for putting out and having the material for a "great" Greatest Hits album. They are rare and most bands don't deserve them. I recommend this CD to people that have heard his songs on the radio but never knew anything about the man. At any rate, the "Hazard" song is worth the purchase.
