OXO Good Grips Digital Triple Kitchen Timer - Black

This timer is great! It is very simple to set. The triple timer lets you track three things easily. Timer #1 has one long beep, #2 has two shorter beeps, and #3 has three fast beeps. When you hear the beeps, you will know whether to head to the kitchen or the laundry, whatever you are tracking. The memory feature is handy. For example, timer #1 remains set at four and a half minutes for steeping my afternoon cup of tea. This unit takes three standard AAAs, so no shopping for some weird coin battery. The display is bright, easy to read, and dims for intervals longer than a minute to conserve the batteries. Pressing any button lights up the display for easy viewing. I'm very happy with this purchase. It is worth the money, and I hope to use it for many years.

I cook a lot and when I do, I am usually cooking multiple items at once. Typically, a protein and a side dish or two. I got tired of setting a timer on my microwave (which doesn't do hours), a timer on my stove and a timer on my phone when I am cooking dinner. With this timer, I can have all of my timers set on one device and I can take it with me if I go into another room. Previously, when setting a timer on my microwave or stove, I found it difficult to take them with me! Overall, the minor "issues" that I have with the timer are outweighed by the convenience and ease of use, so I still give it 5 stars and would recommend to anyone that cooks a lot. Those minor "issues": The timer screen goes dark when you are using it. This is to save battery, of course, but it prevents you from being able to read the timer at a distance. The screen does not go completely dark, so you can still see the countdown when you are up close, but it would be nice to be able to see from a distance, as well. It does illuminate the screen during the last minute of any of the three timers, so that is nice, and you can always just touch a button and the screen will illuminate. The other minor "issue" would be the audible beep when it goes off. The timer will beep a certain number of times based on which timer is going off. While this is nice, I would prefer if the tones were different pitches, instead of just beeping a different number of times. It is my silly preference, so I really can't ding OXO for that.

We had an old OXO triple timer, the silver colored one that would show the time when not in use. It was problematic, every so often would have to take it apart and clean the keys so they'd work better. The speaker was not all that loud either. But it was working for what we needed. Well the old one speaker totally stopped working, tried to replace it without success. Still wanted a triple timer so did a search and found this one. So far this one seems good, the speaker on max setting is loud can hear it from the other rooms. Kinda miss having it show the time when not in use but it's not a big deal. The display is hard to see if the light isn't hitting it right if the backlight is off, unlike the old timer where it was easy to see. But it's easy to turn on the backlight, I've been using the timer select button. My wife is annoyed by the location of the 0 button and I agree it's not in a good spot, but I can see why they did it that way since they changed the start/stop and clear/memory button layout too. Hopefully the buttons on this one won't need to be cleared periodically to make them work better like the old one did. The old one ate through batteries too, finally decided to start using rechargeables with it. We'll see how this one does, still using the batteries it came with.

This was recommended by Cook's Illustrated. In use, it's been a good timer. Being able to key in the time instead of tapping up and down is terrific (could use a backspace instead of having to clear it all). I like that it starts counting up after your time has come up. You can also just count up. Having three different timers going is a bonus when you have a lot of things going. All of these things and what is it missing? An on/off switch. The display darkens, but never turns off. It bothers me. I pull the batteries and put it in the drawer until the next time. That does not make it totally convenient for spontaneous snacks in the oven. I haven't figured out how to get the display to quit being so dark when the timer is running either.

I love this timer... I have not found another one with 3 individual timers that can be set by keying-in the time. The "count-up" function is really useful too. I have used the previous model since 2018, and it is still going strong. This version improves on a few points: the clock which drifts quickly is gone, and the volume can now be adjusted. On the other hand, it is now quite difficult to get an indication of the remaining times by just glancing at the display: it is now hardly readable without the backlight, which turns off after a minute and requires a key press to turn back on. I do not understand this design choice: having a classic black-on-silver LCD panel like the previous model would have been so much better.

The previous metal version of this timer was better but OXO cheaped out with this new model. 1) The newfangled display takes 3 batteries instead of 2. 2) The display goes to sleep! After one minute, the display darkens. The result is the original model's display was easier to see across the room. This one might be better when the lights are off for the one minute until it times out, but who cooks with the lights off? Plus, you need a timer to be always on. I don't want to push a button to wake up the screen. This means the "enhanced display", which takes more batteries, looks worse most of the time. 3) It has no clock. (*This is actually a plus for me as I have enough clocks in my kitchen.) 4) The newfangled display requires an extra button press to wake the screen. So on the old timer, you can press Timer 1 then Start/Stop to start it. On the new timer you need to press Timer 1 just to wake the screen, then Timer 1 AGAIN and then Start/Stop. 5) Button placement is awful. The OG model had the buttons in nice separate positions. The new one has the 0 way off to the side, and the START/RESET buttons are shoved together for some reason. Managing timers is less intuitive because you're always double-checking the button positions. Really, this timer may be better than many others on the market. It has 3 timers and number buttons. But the old version was MUCH better. I'm returning this and finding a way to get the old one.

UNUSABLE - CAN'T READ THE DISPLAY EXCEPT WHEN YOU SET IT OR WHEN REMAINING TIME IS ZERO! The facts: The real dimensions are 2.55 x 3.00 x 4.00 inches so much smaller than stated 2.55.x 4.5 x 8.2 inches (that is the package size not the size of the timer itself) The alarm is moderately loud at 88 dba at 12”in any direction and 90 dba at the back of the case The Good: Because the case is prismoidal, the display face is held at an angle that makes it visible when the backlight is on and the timer is sitting on a flat surface. The buttons are a little small but usable and each timer has a memory that can be set to a different time which can be re-initiated without clearing and re-entering the value (by pressing the “memory” button twice (the first time clears the display and the second time re-enters the value in memory for that particular timer). The Bad: THE DISPLAY IS WORTHLESS. It is a white fluorescent or LED backlit 7-segment display which is transparent when the backlight is off. This means that you cannot see the remaining time on the timer without walking over to the timer and pressing a button. When you initially start the timer, the backlight stays on for one minute (which you cannot shorten or cancel) after which it turns off and the timer face is totally black. If you shine a bright flashlight on the display you can see the remaining time and watch it count. This means that you have no idea how long it will be until the timer is done unless you interrogate it by shining a flashlight on the display or pressing a button (any button) at which time the backlight turns on and stays on for a full minute with no way to turn it off. As somebody discovered, the resulting battery life is short (apparently a few weeks with normal use). So at 50 cents for a AAA battery ($1.50 for the required set of three) the operating cost of this timer is $0.50/week or ~$25 per year. So you will pay enough for batteries that you could have bought a few less expensive timers, or a better one, but at least one that shows the remaining time all the time. This one is going back to Amazon.

Super Cool and Useful TRIPLE Kitchen Timer by OXO. Takes three AAA batteries. Sits nicely anywhere with illuminated backlit digits counting down each of three different alarms. Each timer can count down from 99 hours, 99 minutes, 99 seconds. If you set timer one to 99 hours it will go to 98:59:59: after one second. Each timer has its own continuous alarm, alarm one beeps once, alarm two beeps twice, and alarm three beeps three times. So you can be across the room and know which alarm is going off. When a timer has finished it beeps until you reset it then continues to count positive so you know how long it has been since a timer finished. Operation is "Easy-Peasy" so you can cook and not be fiddling. Comes with batteries so there is nothing else to buy. Backlight times out after a minute but you can still see the digits so you are not left with a blank display. This is just what I needed when running two pressure canners at once. REAL BUTTONS so there is no second-guessing key presses. Priced right so if you were to drop it you can just get another one without panicking. Very happy with my purchase of this TRIPLE Kitchen Timer by OXO.

Oxo usually hits home runs on most of their products. I've always been pleased with their kitchen tools. So i took a gamble on this new version of their trio timer, despite seeing the other poor reviews here. I use it daily for cooking. It's not even a month old and the display is spoilt. Swapped out fresh batteries - twice ! Still didn't work. When it did work, it was decent. Buttons are well spaced out so even with fat fingers there won't be accidental button presses. I don't like the inverted display. The visibility is not good and when you're not viewing it head on, the digits are fuzzy. The traditional display is way easier on the eyes. This unit is bulky so be sure to measure your usable space. The alarm speaker ain't that loud, so if you're in a really noisy environment, you might find it lacking. The alarm tone is not intrusive; it's a pleasant gentle tone (NOT what you want in an alarm timer) If this actually lasted me a year i would rate it 5/10. But considering it didn't even last a month, it deserves a 1/10. Oxo, you can surely do better

I am very happy with the timer. I like the three countdown and count up timing options. I like how it sits on the counter, also the little rubber feet that stop it from sliding when pressing the buttons. I only wish it had an LCD display which could stay on with very little battery drain. Instead of the very bright glow display which is easy to see when it is on but turns off after one minute to save battery life. All in all I still like this timer and would recommend it to anyone who accepts the inconvenience of having to press a button to turn on the display.

Very good timer. Easy to use, clear screen, multiple timers, memory for the time. Only negative is not having the option to stick it to the fridge with magnets.

This is the best timer I ever owned and better than all the alternatives I saw, so it deserves 5 starts. But it could be even better and I'd be happy to pay a bit more for some improvements. First of all, the light is on only for a short period of time after you press some buttons, and then if any timer has less than one minute left. It would be nice if the light was always on when a timer is running, or at least if a timer has less than 10 or 20 minutes left. I doubt this would change the battery life a lot and, if it did, then the timer should just take an extra battery. Even better, the screens could be e-ink (which are quite cheap nowadays). Another improvement could be having different sounds for different timers. Beeeeep ... beeeeeep for timer 1, beeep beeep .... beeep beeep for timer 2, and beep beep beep ... beep beep beep for timer 3. Finally, it would be nice it the timer were waterproof so it could be easy to wipe it clean.
