I have this exact case for some audio equipment. Is there any reason anyone can think of why this would not also be a great suitcase?

I travel for a living and use 2 of these cases: one for tools and the other for personal baggage. The cases are sturdy and have a lot of room, but it is an open trunk so either you just dump everything in and hope for the best or you also need to purchase internal organization options. That said, if you are traveling in the winter, once you get below freezing, there is a chance the cold makes the body and latches brittle enough that they crack or snap. Fair warning, getting replacement parts from Pelican is near impossible. One of my cases has not had any issues, the other case is on it’s set of latches. Overall it’s a great trunk and mine are showing minimal wear after well over 200 flights the pst couple years.

Can you order with TSA key lock latches?

It has holes to use TSA padlocks or regular padlocks. It does not have built-in TSA latches.

On the Pelican Air 1615, what are the hinges made of? Are the plastic or metal?

Plastic and I have no fear of them breaking
