Will it turn off the check engine light?

When dealing with an OBD 1 car, the 3123 will not turn off the check engine light. Disconnecting the battery for a few minutes, up to 15 minutes in some cases, will clear the codes. However, if the problems were not fixed, they will come back and set the service engine soon light.

so where does it show the codes at? I have an OBD2 that is right on the reader, this one doesnt have a screen, and will it work on a 96 chevy silverad
