A Must Have for Every Kitchen!
I bought this for canning since pouring hot liquids out of a pot into a jar, even with a funnel on top of it can get a bit messy and I was tired of burning myself. It would be much easier to scoop the liquid out to fill the jar but none of my soup ladles did the trick. When this came, I was disappointed by the way it looked and felt. To me it actually looked like a cheap plastic scoop although the handle looked okay but it would melt the second I used it in hot liquid. Not only doesn't it melt, I have been using this for my canning and scooping out stew and pumpkin and any other need I came across and this scoop works like a charm. It is my favorite item to use to scoop/ladle since not only is the scoop big, it is designed so it can get down to the bottom of the pot. It won't get every last drop but darn near and much closer than any kind of ladle I have ever used in the past. I also love the hook to hang on the side of the pot since it cuts down on clean up from a dripping spoon on top of the stove. (After using it a few times, the 'looks' are not an issue, in fact, I go scanning the utensils looking for my shinny red scoop.) As far as my fears of it breaking, there is no cracks, no problems at all with it and I have used it many times and not just for canning. This is perfect for dishing out soup or stews in bowls since one or two scoops fills the bowl and you can get the chunks of meat or potatoes (or whatever) in the scoop as well without it falling out and splashing hot liquid on you or the table or worse yet, on your guest/family. I love this scoop so much, I ordered another so I can have one dedicated to canning and the other for my everyday kitchen needs.

The only ladle I use in my kitchen!!!
The only ladle I use! Had it for 4 years now & love it more every time I use it! A must for canning but also for dipping out soups & stews! Don’t hesitate and hurry before they’re out of stock again!!

Canning ladle of my dreams
This is the third ladle I've used for canning. First, I used my home ladle, but pouring from it was a messy affair. After eyeing this one and deciding the price at the time was too high ($21), I purchased a green canning ladle from another company for $7. It also had the little spouts on the sides and a hook to secure it to the pot, but honestly, it wasn't much better than my standard kitchen ladle. The hook was too high up on the handle, so the ladle still kind of floated in the pot, the spouts didn't do much to direct the flow of salsa, and I still had to use a second spoon to get the final cup or so of liquid out of the pot and into the jar. Enter the Prepworks Canning Scoop. This shining star is worth every single penny I paid for it ($14.99 yay!). It does exactly what it says it does. The hook is appropriately placed to keep the scoop off the bottom of the pot (even a squat dutch oven), the overall length is short and easy to handle, it has a couple options for directed pouring, and it scoops all the bits from the bottom of the pot. I feel like it's so rare to encounter a product that exceeds expectations, but this one truly does. It's probably my favorite canning tool purchase to date.

Useful beyond canning
I love my canning scoop! (Well, except for the color.) It is large enough to make fast work of getting soups and stews into storage containers (I don’t use it for actual canning). The strange shape of the bowl is surprisingly effective for scraping sides and bottom of the pot, and also the corners. I no longer feel the need to scrape with a small spoon once the bulk is gone. I thought dirt would accumulate at the hook, since there is also a joint there between two pieces of plastic, but this has not happened.

If you are a canner, you need this!
I know what you are thinking. That’s pretty darn expensive for a ladle. That’s exactly what I thought, too. But I bought it anyway and WOW. What an awesome tool for my canning kitchen!!!!It’s bigger than I expected - in a very good way. It’s heavier and sturdier than I expected - also in a very good way. And it’s nice looking. The fact that it hangs on the edge of the stock pot is brilliant and makes my canning jobs SOOO much easier AND easier to clean up after!! I love this thing and highly recommend it!

Convenient and light weight.
Like how it hooks on rim of pot. Very sturdy. Fits well in my hand.

My Review
I am only giving this a 3-star review as you can see for the simple fact is that you can not pour slowly with this Ladle or what you are pouring runs down the ladle, it needs more of a point. To me as a canning ladle and filling jars it is useless but besides that, it is a nice ladle. No matter how I hold it that doesn't make a difference. For use with Chile, jams, it works great. I guess it all depends on what you are using it for, after all, it is a Scoop, not a Ladle.I updated from 3 to 4. The more I use it the more I like it. It is not silicone, it will melt.

Great for Canning
I also have the canning funnel along with this ladle. Both are fantastic. I really like the shape of this ladle as compared to a traditional round spoon ladle that you’d use for something like serving soup. This ladle is a hefty scoop with a side-pour that’s really well-suited for filling canning jars.

Perfect!
I started canning again after 25 years. This ladle has made it so much easier to get every drop out of the pot. My metal one just scraped and missed the last half cup of everything and when you're working with hot liquids, trying to use a tablespoon to get all the good stuff from the pot to the jar is hard, I only have two hands, lol. I also love the color, it happens to match all the other stuff I have for canning so I know which is which, all the red stuff's for canning, all the other colors are for something else, lol. Oh, and you can actually fill a jar with one scoop, I do mostly 250ml jars so it's so much easier. it's worth having a dedicated scoop just for canning.

Nous l'utilisons tout le temps,Perfect for filling preserve jars, especially when you use a wide-necked funnel as well. It only take 2 scoops, and you can get to the last drops in the pan, as the ladle has almost straight edges.. We use it all the time,

Great scoop
I really like this. It is deep with a pouring on three sides. The little hook to rest it on the side of the saucepan works well.
