Best Illustrated "The Nutcracker" Story
I think this is the .most delightful book about "The Nutcracker." The artwork is simply stunning. Children love the story, but also enjoy finding tiny (special) animals on each page. This is a great gift!

Jan Brett is the best!
Jan Brett books are the best for stories and artwork. I've been buying them for my wife for many, many years. This one is as good as it's predecessors.

Lovely book telling The Nutcracker Ballet story
I'm 78 and took my two great granddaughters - ages 4 and 8 - to see The Nutcracker ballet. I purchased the book thinking we would read the book and look at the pictures prior to attending the ballet. The 8-year-old wasn't interested but the 4-year-old and myself read the book and looked at the pictures. The pictures in the book are lovely and the story was easy to understand and not too long. We all enjoyed the ballet. If nothing else, the book refreshed my memory as to the ballet story.

"Clara" is "Maria" in the original story
Saw some reviews where people were disappointed that there was no Clara in the story - but I believe "Clara" was called "Marie" in the original story (The Nutcracker and the Mouse King, by E. T. A. Hoffmann).
