Wonderfully inspiring
This is a lovely book, well-written and properly edited with lots of full-color photos so us visual peeps can understand her vision. If you want to try to journal, embroider, sketch, doodle, sew, etc, Ms. Rose is the perfect guide. She shows us how lovely imperfection can be. Ms. Rose also has no expectations of her readers going out and buying expensive art supplies in order to recreate her projects.Ms. Rose shows us how to use the materials Mother Nature has provided us to add color and texture to both cloth and paper. All you need to begin is a basic hand-sewing kit, pens (waterproof is best), pencils, and paper.Scraps of material, repurposed clothing, linens, and blankets, thread, embroidery floss, and other bits and bobs (as the Brits say) can be added to the list as you move through the projects. I'd also include a pair of snips for cutting twigs, flowers, leaves, and other natural materials that strike your fancy. I have some bark that came from a tree I cut back sitting between bricks just waiting to be added to a project! The only issue I have with this whole book, and it's a really small one, is that she does not show how to actually stitch together folios to make a "real" book. But that's okay! There are other authors who have done so already. There are YouTube tutorials, too. Here are two recommendations to fill in the gaps for you, in case you are interested in turning paper or cloth into books:"Re-Bound: Creating Handmade Books from Recycled and Repurposed Materials" by Jeannine Stein. And one of my personal favorites:"Bookbinding: A How To Guide" by E. P. Carter. Both books are available for Kindle Unlimited readers, but they are also worth purchasing so you can have them forever.I feel the Daydream Journals is an awesome book for all ages, and is valuable for all crafters from beginner to expert. Highly recommend to buy or borrow.10/10 unicorns! 🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄
