Another concern is that the bottom does not lock into place. This typically will not be much of an issue, but it does mean that in some instances you may need to hold on to the Spiralizer so it stays connected to the bottom reservoir (especially if allowing children kitchen-helpers to crank). Similarly, the crank handle does not lock into place tightly, so that will also come out if youโre not careful. Thanks to the Spiralizerโs design, it does feel safe. Pros ๏ Makes using various veggies fun. ๏ Gravity-fed design aids in efficiency of use (very little effort needed to feed vegetables into the Spiralizer). ๏ Kid friendly (blade is far from operating mechanism) Cons ๏ The bottom does not lock into place. ๏ The handle does not lock into place. What a wonderful, must-have kitchen gadget
What a wonderful, must-have kitchen gadget!! I absolutely love this spiralizer. I was very excited to order this vertical spiralizer. I have purchased a different veggi spiralizer, and thought it was good, until receiving this one! This vertical one has a bowl that the veggies dispense into, which holds a lot! It is very easy to assemble and use right away. It comes with three different cutting options by adding the thin spiral blade or thick spiral blade. The third cut is a ribbon cut, which has been my favorite so far. This is used with the blade attached without adding any attachments. The handle is simple to add to the gadget and easy to turn. This machine is so simple to use. Add your favorite vegetable, lock it in place, and crank the handle! You will be amazed. It really makes cooking vegetables fun! I highly recommend this product and I am extremely happy with this purchase.

If everything was as reasonably made as this spiralizer, there would be no sadness or frustration; only peace and joy.
I wanna say I bought this thing like a year ago? Or close to it. Anyway, I did just give it away the other week-- saving space and I didn't use it often enough to justify keeping it in my move to a smaller place-- but it's worth mentioning that this is really good product. It's incredibly fast to use and not physically demanding at all. I could go through whole potatoes in like thirty seconds; it was really impressive. It was also very easy to clean, and overall the design was just really sensible in the way I wish other kitchen products would emulate. If it weren't for the competition for space, and this being more of a less-frequent, luxury item, I would've kept my machine. As it is, I've passed it on, but if I end up in a different situation with more space, I might just buy it again. If you want to have a good spiralizing experience, this is the one.

You'll love this product if you have three hands to operate it
It seemed like a great idea to have a vertical spiralizer as the downward pressure/gravity would be working for you. I've seen several of the horizontal ones and they seem to waste a lot of the vegetables. You have to press down on the top handle to spiralize the vegetable... so much so that the handle becomes hot from friction. There is a lock function, however, it did not stay locked. The bowl attachment is great, however, it doesn't lock so the bowl constantly spins. I ended up holding the bowl while my husband cranked the handle. Further, while there are anti-slip strips on the bottom of the bowl, they do not hold the bowl in place. We tried using a rubber trivet and a rubber jar opener to keep the product still. With the downward pressure and cranking, the bowl still moved. The product design is flawed. One should not need three hands to operate a spiralizer.

Easy to use. Dishwasher safe!!
I was so geeked to try the ScharfPro Vertical Spiralizer that I tried it minutes after it arrived. I'm in a Facebook group and they talk almost daily about "zoodles", zucchini noodles, so that was the first thing I made. This is SO simple to use, wash your zucchini, stick it above the blade, lock the pressure mount and turn the handle. 3 zucchinis spiralized in 2 minutes. I tried all 3 blades, the ribbon blade and the thick spiral blade are great for decorative cuts like salads maybe (pictures posted). The thin julienne is best for "zoodles". I didn't grab pictures because I was so excited to cook it! (Threw it in a pan with some onions then added soy sauce - Voila! Instant low carb lowmein!) I can't say enough good things about this spiralizer. It is so simple to use that I know I will use it often. Best part? IT'S DISHWASHER SAFE! I would give this 6 stars if I could! Thanks ScharfPro! **Edited. 7/24. I have used and then run all parts through the dishwasher a few more times. Still love it! I've added a few more pics. I received this item at a discounted price in exchange for my honest review.

Perfect and MUCH Better than Hand Helds! Update and Downgrade.
WOW! I am upset with myself to have purchased a little hand held spiralizer. WASTE of money. Why? I was wasting so much of my vegetables. NOW with the ScharfPro this is not an issue! It's fast easy and takes the hassle & frustration out of the task. The self pressure is achieved once you lock the top by turning the knob. 3 things that could be improved. 1. The directions. They need to be larger print. It's annoying to have such small print. 16 Arial or Calibri font would be better. 2. Little sleeves to protect the 2 blades when not in use. 3. A top for the bowel. or 3. Little rubber grips for the bottom of the bowl to help it stay in place. That's it. Enjoying and see family using it a lot more than the hand held. Oct 4. I have to take this from a 4 to a 3 star review. Why? ANNOYING. The handle keeps coming out when you are into a good rhythm. The base keeps slipping on top of that. OMG they need to make little suction cups at the base to stop the slipping and make the handle lock in. 2 easy fixes would make this PERFECT. And maybe a way to make it taller, but I don't mind cutting my veggies to fit. Just give me the suction cups and lock in handle. Still better than hand held.

Adequate kitchen tool for cutting up salad veggies quickly
I bought this on Prime day for a few dollars off. If I could give it 3.5 stars, I would, as I am between "It's OK" and "I like it". But, I'll give the 4th star. For the price, it does a pretty good job of slicing up veggies pretty quickly for salads. I have done carrots, squash, a cucumber and onions as well as apples. With the 3 different slicing blades, you can get well cut spirals. However, the design could be better, when you put a carrot piece to be cut for example, you place the end of the carrot over a hole which is about 1/5 inch in diameter. As you turn the crank, the carrot is cut, and the center of the carrot piece forms a tube down the center hole. This will be about 4 inches long. You could either take this piece and run it along the blade (BE CAREFUL it is SHARP) to slice up with the rest of the cut carrot or save it for cooking, but it is just a piece of carrot, not a big long spaghetti string. I would prefer the product was designed differently so the entire carrot was sliced up uniformly. Not a big deal either way. Some reviewers have stated you have to put downward pressure on the top "plunger" (if you will) and burn your hand up for the friction as it turns. Not true. If you lock the knob with the vegetable in place, you only need to hold it by the yoke (gray part that looks like "shoulders") and turn the crank, and the turning motion will do the cutting and screw downward on its own. Holding it by the hoke keeps it steady. Cleanup is easy and the bowl holds probably 5 or 6 medium sized cut up carrots. The product is fairly well made and I would not call it flimsy. The little instruction manual that comes in the box does have incorrect parts labels, but it is easy enough to figure out what is what. There are better food processing tools out there, but you will also pay more. However, this is adequate for the task, unless you want to get super fancy.
