Great history book for children
I bought this book for my 5 year old as we were going on holiday to Egypt. She absolutely loved it and has read it several times. The illustrations are fantastic and the text is very engaging for young children.It has kickstarted her interest in history and we’ll definitely be getting the Ancient Roman book soon.

Bold, hilarious and beautifully informative.
This is a bold and fascinating new series from illustrator and writer James Davies, who has clearly been given space to bring his own inimitable style to the table. Bright, hilarious and full of exactly the sort of information that young readers love, this has already helped stoke the interest in history for several members of my family. We already have the first two in the series and can't wait for the next!

Dreadful. In spite of the lovely illustrations.
The publisher and ‘author’ ought to be ashamed of themselves as the book contains obvious errors. For example:‘The Roman Empire also brought a new religion, and by 300 BC, Egypt was almost entirely converted to Christianity.’I’m not joking. It really does say that. It continues:‘Nearly 100 years later, the Roman Empire was losing power and Egypt was invaded by the Islamic Empire.’Even if ‘BC’ was a misprint and ‘AD’ was intended, Muhammad wasn’t born until c. 570 AD – not ‘nearly 100 years’ after 400 AD. And Egypt didn’t actually fall to the Islamists until around ten years after Muhammad’s death (632).Such contempt for hungry, developing minds – and their parents – is itself contemptible and ought not to be rewarded. Unless you don’t really care about ‘facts’ that is. I mean, they’re only kids, right?
