Can this work for the back of my ankle?

Yes, it will work all the way around. I disagree with the first comment on this thread. It actually stays cold a very long time. I would say a few hours at minimum.

Can you provide a link for the extra gel packs?

I couldn't find any source to buy just the gel pack separately, but you can just buy another set on amazon, which was cheaper than any other site: ($10) https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01HSUQ8IC/ref=mp_s_a_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1491050524&sr=8-1&keywords=bodyprox+gel+packs

Can you sleep with this?

You should not sleep with ice-cold packs on your muscles; usually needs to be used 10-20 min. It can hinder your body's natural healing processes, if left on too long and keeps the muscle highly contracted.

Are these made from latex or rubber?

Canvas...like umbrella material. Really nice.
