Is it too big for a 9-year-old of average size? Do the bullets hurt if you get hit with them, due to how far they can go? Thank you!

It is not too big. Your 9 year old will be fine. The darts can hurt, but one for a fraction of a second. You are not going to feel much pain at all when you are in the heat of an intense battle. You can determine if you are going to allow headshots, my dad does, just no faceshots. I reccomened going on YouTube and watching some of the reviews of it.

After the bolt click, how to open it or divided it again?

Pull the orange handle back, open up the bullet chamber then push small orange button and pull bullet holder out
