3-Way Battery-Free Wireless Light Switch Kit - White

I had a single switch controlling two ceiling fixtures and I wanted to add another switch on the opposite end of the room without tearing out my drywall ceiling, running surface mounted conduit on block walls, or fishing wires to wire a new three-way circuit. This kit was a great solution. I was honestly a bit skeptical that the remote switches would work reliably without batteries to supply power to the RF transmitter, but they function flawlessly. Installation was extremely easy, although I had some weird old existing wiring and fixtures to contend with. Included plates made for a professional looking install. Since I wasn't clear on this until I actually purchased, I'll add here that the rocker switches stay in a middle position and you just click momentarily down for off or up for on. This is unlike an ordinary mechanical three-way (two-switch) arrangement, where you often have to flip the switch down to turn on and up to turn off, and actually superior in my opinion. Installed a year and a half ago and it's still working perfectly. This kit isn't cheap, but the quality and performance are excellent, and I would have paid much more to have someone run the extra wiring necessary for conventional switches, so I figure I actually saved money and still got better results.

First of all, I am a retired radar systems engineer, and I am familiar with the RF frequency being used to switch this controller. I only recently installed the switches and associated controller, so I cannot claim knowledge of their reliability over time, but from what I have seen so far, as well as discussed with the Runlesswire company, I think that this switch/controller combo is great and very well thought out. On the negative side, let me say that attempting to install the switch and controller within the same box is tough. I had to add a small extension to the box. In my case this was an external box by my pool so it was no big deal. This outside box was metal, so the control signal was not about to get into the box from the remote switch without my adding a way for the antenna to be exposed. I added a short (2”) threaded PVC tube with end cap to extend the antenna, so this was another reason that I needed some room in the box to put the antenna in position. This is not required if using a plastic box. I wanted the remote switch up at my house and placed it in an existing box that had been used with the original remote switch, installed over 10 years ago using an older technology. The box was plastic, which was good, but it was next to the leader for the gutters, which deflected the signal away from the direction I wanted it to go. I solved the problem by placing metal foil on the opposite side of the box to redirect the signal. This worked great. Note that in order to get to the antenna on the box by the pool the signal had to go about 123 ft, including a bounce off the metal fence behind the pool back to that antenna on the opposite side of the pool. That all worked great, but I was concerned about having to replace a switch or controller at some later date, and discussed this with the company. While it is clear that the controller can be programmed to match a replacement switch, it is also possible to add multiple switches to the same controller, so it is not necessary to have all switches set to the same signal. They thought of many issues when designing this, so while this switch may appear expensive, you are getting your money’s worth!

Works exactly as advertised. The RunLessWire saved me from having to do a major wiring project. I have an older two wire system with a black hot wire and white neutral wire to the ceiling light. The light only had an on/off pull chain switch. The 3-way comes with two switches and both operate the light from any location with no wiring or batteries required. Now that I know how well it works I will be buying more for other lights. Easy to install but does require wiring the control unit at the light fixture on the outside of the junction box so it takes a bit of time to remove the junction box and install it correctly. I was able to do that with out any difficulty. This is a quality product and although it seems expensive it saves a lot of work and a lot of money if running wires is the only other option

Really liking this kit so far. The switches and wireless receiver are working perfectly. We had an older pull string style light with no wired switches in our Kitchen die. This has allowed us to update the light fixture (no more pull cord) while still allowing us to turn on/off the light from either end of the room. The only drawback I could speak of, would be the size of the wireless receiver. While not huge, it was maybe just a few cm's smaller, it would have fit perfectly in the base of the flush mount fixture purchased. As it is, the light fixture only has a minor small gap along one side where it doesn't quite touch the ceiling due to the receiver size, but really not noticeable. Just would've made it easier/quicker to install. Other than that, the installation instructions are clear and simple, and no issues with our old knob and tube wiring. Maybe a little on the expensive side, but does exactly what I needed with no batteries, etc. to change or maintain. So far it's a solid product, and I would purchase again.

Used this to replace Skylink wireless switch & receiver. This new switch & receiver is MUCH better. Came preprogrammed, a time saver. Installed easy ( you need skills to wire wire ceiling lights). Unlike Skylink, it works every time! There is no noticable delay between pressing switch and light turning on. There is no battery to replace. That a great convenience. A technical detai l not mentioned in the description: this product complies with Enocean standards. (That is a good thing). This is not a "smart device"... and that is wonderful!!!! No need to connect to wifi. No risk of getting hacked. Will work even if internet is down. And hey, do you really need to control lights by voice or phone app? Simple is better. Get off your butt and turn the light on/off by pressing a switch. Really. You will live longer.😉

I installed this same switch over 3 years ago and it still works flawlessly. I just got another one and it works perfectly and installation is very easy. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is the price. I am sure this product is better built than the $30 dollar competition but they need to get their price down. However, if you don't mind paying a premium for a very good product that works right out of the box then this is the one to get. I will be needing two more and will look for other cheaper options but if the price were not an issue I would definetly get these.

I was a little leery at first but these switches had pretty good reviews. 4 Stars because of price. Most are using them for lighting, which is what they are designed for. I am using them to control a whole-house-fan motor. As can be seen in the image, the remote is mounted to a metal box which is in the attic. The remote is about 20ft from the farthest switch through plywood and drywall. Signal strength is great. No issues. Since the "RunLessWire" remote has a relay that switches 120VAC, I use that relay to turn on the much larger relay that actually controls the whole-house-fan motor. As can be seen in the other image, the switch looks like a standard Decora style switch. However, they don't operate like a standard 3-Way switch. The Top button is "On" and the bottom button is "Off". No big deal. Just be sure to tell everyone before they start complaining that the switch is broken. We keep the second switch on the upstairs night stand as a "remote control". So far, they are working great. Installation is easy if you already have a dual-gang box. (ie.box made for 2 switches). I had to add the dual-gang box to our stairwell. This was much more work than installing the switch. Very pleased so far. Hope this helps!

I bought this switch almost 8 years ago, and it’s been working perfectly from day one. The no-battery technology is brilliant and straightforward: the pressure that you use when pushing the light switch provides just enough kinetic power to transmit a signal to the wireless receiver that’s connected to a nearby light fixture. In our situation, the receiver is wired to ceiling fixture about 10 feet away from the switch — and it works every. single. time. Couldn’t be happier with it. If you’re installing a light fixture that isn’t already wired to its own switch (and you don’t want to mess around with running wires through your walls), this is the solution.

The controller takes up a lot of room in the fixture box, especially a renovation box. That limits the type of LED light that can be used as many are designed to project into the fixture box.
