The 150 questions included in this book contain multiple fundamental ideas underlying probability and stochastic calculus questions frequently asked in interviews for quant roles, both for buy-side and sell-side roles. The answers to all of these questions are included in the book. This book should be useful to multiple audiences: candidates interviewing for junior roles upon graduating from financial engineering programs or doctoral programs, as well as for candidates with several years of work experience looking to brush up on technical questions prior to interviewing for the next position in their careers. Topics: โข Discrete Probability โข Random Walks and Martingales โข Continuous Probability โขBrownian Motion โขStochastic Differential Equations This is the second book in the Pocket Book Guides for Quant Interviews Series, after the second edition of the best-selling 150 Most Frequently Asked Questions on Quant Interviews, and to be followed by a book on brainteasers, Challenging Brainteasers for Quant Interviews. Review: Good source for problems - Nice bit of extra interview prep. Shame they only sell hard copyโs though Review: Great book for quant interview - Very good book. Advanced questions to be well prepared.

Not for real life interviews
I am a quant and seen some (not all) questions asked at interviews over the years. However solutions really letting this book down. They are clearly derived by a person with an academic background who have no idea to how such problems should be approached by a person who is suitable for a quant position. The solutions are overcomplicated, some problems have beautiful simple intuitive solutions and yet here we are presented with pages of painful derivation instead. What for? If I were presented with such solutions at in interview, even if correct, I would not think that a candidate is suitable for the job. Quants need to be able to find the simplest possible solution to very complex problems, solutions which are elegant and intuitive. This is the key requirement of the job. Knowledge of mathematics, however deep, is not sufficient in such a case. And this book leads you down the wrong path. If you want to pass an exam at a good school this may be a good book. But it is not good prep book for an interview. If a problem does not have an elegant solution there is a very low chance it will be asked at an interview. If it is asked, believe me, your are better off in another company. Yet most of the concepts discussed in the question are relevant, so there is some useful material in here, therefore two stars. My advice, read the problem, try to find an elegant solution ( Google it if you need), move to the next problem.

Challenging and amazing - best solutions ever
If you master this book, you will be ace interviews and amaze interviewers with your knowledge of probability and stochastic calculus! Reading through this book is a learning experience. It is clear the authors are academics - the solutions are detailed, and, frankly, I could not find one singe mistake in the book so far. Amazing! It is also clear the authors have experience with quant interviews - these are questions I would ask on interviews. The book is as much a cheat sheet for interviewers (you can find questions at all levels, from easy to very challenging) as it is a way for people interviewing to learn rigorous proofs and understand questions that are asked on interviews. I keep reading more and more questions from the book and find that I am more and more confident answering them and fully understanding them. Hands down the best and most fun interviewing book to read and learn from!

THE BEST book for quant interviews!
Iโm a quant portfolio manager, and I bought the book mainly for the purpose of interviewing quant candidates. Going thru the questions, I can tell they are very well designed and cover the exact areas of skillset a qualified candidate should have. I would highly recommend to quant candidates / students to go thru the questions and check / improve your problem solving skills.

Lot's of mistakes in solutions.
Good set of questions, although in my interviewing experience, there is a lot of these questions that would not be admissible due to time constraints. Problems for which the solutions need 2 pages of math to solve won't show up in an interview because normally interviewers have only 5-10 minutes to hear your thought process. My biggest issue with the book tho is the annoying amount of plain wrong solutions. Make sure you follow these with a grain of salt. There are also plenty of cases where they really took the hard route to solve VERY easy problems.

Questions are better than solutions.
Some solutions are painfully complicated yet there are much better alternatives.
