This Is the Good Stuff - Don't Skimp on This One
I am all for saving money where you can, but there are certain things where buying the cheap version just is not worth it. Foil tape for ducts and vents is one of them. I used this to reseal my dryer vent after cleaning out the duct runs under the house, and also on my AC. It handles both hot and cold applications without breaking down, which is exactly what you need when you are sealing something that is going to see temperature extremes year round. Regular duct tape is not built for that and it will fail on you. 3M quality is immediately noticeable. The tape is thick, the adhesive is strong, and it seals properly when applied correctly. One thing to know going in: it takes a little practice because of the thickness. You want to make sure you are getting full contact with no air gaps, so take your time, go around twice, and use a little more than you think you need until you get the hang of it. If you are a homeowner this should honestly just live in your toolbox permanently. Dryer vents, AC ducts, furnace seams - any time you have a hot or cold air application this is what you want. Buy the real 3M tape. Peace of mind and itโs nice knowing I wonโt have to redo it in a year or two.

The high quality aluminum โductโ tape
This is the good one, this stuff is tough too. I always like to have some on hand for projects around the house. Youโd be surprised how useful this tape can be once you have some on hand. My dad always used this at work (HVAC) so Iโve learned over the years how to properly use this tape to make my A/C more efficient. This is great for taping up cracks around your furnace or condenser coil. You can also use it to tape the chill line near the outside unit if your lines have areas that are exposed, or if there are places that are beginning to be exposed. You can buy cheaper brands, but thereโs some things you shouldnโt buy off brand, and this one of them. Buy the legit 3M tape, itโs worth it. Itโll save you money in the long run as you wonโt constantly be having to patch up previous applications. Iโm not a certified HVAC tech, but after riding with my dad from elementary school until I graduated, I do know to highly recommend this specific tape. This can also be used on small windows, such as the small window panes on some front/back doors, and for lots of other applications. If youโre a homeowner, I truly believe a roll of this tape should be in your home tool box.

Genuine 3M Quality
Genuine 3M product, Quality as expected, Easy to cut to the correct size before placing it, with the backer paper protecting the sticky side, but sticks were you put it. I used this to patch some gaps in aluminum ductwork directly below the furnace output, and it has stayed stuck through both Heating and Cooling cycles.

Excellent product - Expensive
I used this metal (aluminum) tape to seal garage door insulation panels cut from 1 1/2 inch rigid R-Tech insulation. Its worked perfectly. From it's characteristics I would recommend it for metal duct sealing and anything dealing with insulation. It is very sticky, especially to itself. It also conforms to any surface and remains - very much like aluminum foil. Bend it in place and it stays. Two minor complaints. The price - and when you have to peel the backing of the tape its can take a few moments to get a corner started - remember to peel off small lengths of the backer as you go. No long pieces, as it will curl back on itself and stick together - not fun - especially at the top of a ladder.

Foil tape
Works and sticks good sealing duct frame for filters. USN came out with duct tape, submarines would use it to stick problem people to ceilings (no joke)

Best HVAC Tape I Ever Used & Will Always Use
I have been doing heating and air conditioning with going to school over 30 years ago. Yes, you will find much aluminum tape that is less expensive on Amazon for sure. I have always used this with it being made by 3M knowing how good it is and would say out of all different aluminum tapes. Iโve used this is 10 times better than any other tape I ever used. Surprises me itโs not much more expensive with how unbelievable it really is and if you purchase it versus cheaper ones, you know by the odor of the adhesive that is on it. Other stuff Iโve used did not only stick the greatest. Yes itโs stuck on any ductwork. I put it on this made by 3M. Wow. Even if you do not do HVAC for a living and need aluminum tape, this is beyond your best choice believe me.

Good, better than local stores
Good tape, used for taping seams between foam boards. Better than when you can get at hardware stores

It pays to get the good and expensive foil tapes.
I tried a cheaper tape wich still wasn't that cheap. Had to learn the hard way 3M is thicker and has more adhesive then the generic brands cant go wrong with 3M Foil Tape. Not gunna show my work though even though it worked. Lol

Not all foil tapes are the same.
I use this on clean, oil free duct work. Yes this is an expensive foil tape (cheaper if you buy it by the case) but the cold weather tack is effective and the adhesion will last for years even with the temperature cycles. I prefer the the thicker tapes (this is one of them) and 3M uses a quality adhesive. Tack is when the tape is first applied (TO A CLEAN SURFACE) and adheres to the surface. Adhesion is the ability to remain attached to the surface for a length of time and through temperature cycles. Flagging is the tape releasing from the surface (Adhesion has failed) and with the cheap tapes this happens in a few years. This is a pressure sensitive tape and MUST be smoothed down with an applicator and NOT just your hand. I believe in doing a job once and to the best of my ability and this tape has met my expectations

Does the job nicely!
This tape is great, very thick and sticks nicely to the duct work, sealing the gaps perfectly. Exactly what I needed for our home. The reviews I read before ordering this were spot on, well worth the money.
