Fellow Clara Coffee Press Coffee Maker

This press looks handsome and feels good in the hand, but it's the functional refinements that really make it shine. I've long loved French Press style coffee. I've made it at home for years, using various devices - including the most popular types, it seems. They make good coffee, but the glass ones can break pretty easily and they don't keep your coffee very hot. The double-walled metal varieties mostly fix the 'breaks easy' and 'keep hot' parts, but all of these more traditional systems that I've seen use a plunger with three parts down at the business end of things and all that needs to get disassembled and cleaned regularly - and that's frankly a hassle. The Fellow Clara has replaced that mess with one integrated unit that screws onto the end of the plunger. With a soapy brush, it cleans easily, thoroughly, and in a jiffy. There is nothing to disassemble. That integrated screening/filtering unit is surrounded with what appears to be a ribbed silicone ring (which is also integral to the single filtering assembly - I'm describing just an important aspect of it, here). It fits perfectly, works like a gasket, and is very effective at keeping grit out of your finished brew. The double, very fine screen filters embedded in the filtering assembly play a large role in that, too. All together, it's by far the most effective filtering I've ever had with a French Press - and it is simultaneously by far the easiest to clean. That takes virtually all of the hassle out of making French Press coffee. The carafe keeps the coffee very hot for a long time - much longer than my other double-walled unit. And you can just let the coffee sit, pressed down to the bottom, while you pour from this one vessel for .. something like two hours, maybe more .. while it stays quite hot and doesn't grow bitter or over-brewed from contact with the grounds. Take it all together and this is a truly excellent French Press. Note that it's only about a 4 cup capacity or so. Great for one or two people on a morning, but you'll make multiple batches if you want more brew. Fortunately, that's a cinch with this product.

This portable French press is a game-changer for anyone who loves coffee on the go. First of all, the design is sleek and modern with a matte black finish that is both stylish and functional. The 24 oz carafe is the perfect size for a morning cup of coffee, and the insulated stainless steel keeps it warm for hours. The enhanced filtration system in this French press is a standout feature. It ensures that every cup of coffee is smooth and free of any unwanted sediment. I appreciate that I don't have to worry about grit or grounds in my coffee, even when I'm camping or traveling. Speaking of travel, the Fellow Clara Coffee Press is incredibly portable. It's lightweight and compact, making it easy to take on the go. Whether I'm hiking, camping, or just heading to work, I can always have a fresh cup of coffee with me. Finally, I want to mention the quality of the coffee that this French press produces. The coffee is rich and flavorful, and I love that I can control the strength by adjusting the amount of coffee and water that I use. Overall, I highly recommend the Fellow Clara Coffee Press Coffee Maker to anyone who loves great coffee and wants a portable, high-quality French press. It's stylish, functional, and makes an amazing cup of coffee every time.

Filters grounds well, so does not pour into your coffee. Easy to take apart and clean (and to put back together). Stays warm for a few hours, which is a huge bonus with this model for the way we drink coffee. Would recommend, especially for beginners.

The Clara French Press feels like Fellow designed it for people who treat coffee like a ritual, not a routine. Everything about it is deliberate—the weight, the matte texture, the seamless stainless interior, and the piston that glides without resistance. The insulation keeps coffee hot far longer than a traditional press, but what stands out is how clean the brew is. The filtration system leaves no grit at the bottom, no metallic taste, and no stray grounds sneaking through. I was even a little surprised to see how precisely it pours—no dripping, no residue down the side. Using a press can feel cumbersome, but this one isn’t. It’s as enjoyable to display as it is to use. — Curated by Jaded John | #OrderlyCleanDesign

I purchased the Clara French Press in black about a year ago and have been using it at least 4x a week. I have only hand washed it. It has given me countless cups of coffee and there's a few things to note: PROS: - Brewed coffee stays hot / warm for hours. I have gone back to pour a cup of coffee 4hrs after the initial brew and it's still steaming. I put the whole press in the fridge over night thinking i'll have ice coffee in the morning and it was still lukewarm after 8+hrs in the fridge. - Really aesthetically pleasing to have out on the counter. It feels a bit bulky, but that's the side effect of how good the insulation is. - Super easy to clean. I scrape out 85% of the ground using the wooden spoon it comes with and get the last 15% with a paper towel or quick rinse. The coating used on the inside also makes it super easy to clean any oil build up. The filter piece does not unscrew from the lid, but I have found no issue hand cleaning it. - Very good at filtering out grounds. Only leaves behind very fine silt that it plenty easy to avoid. CONS: - MESSY. Something must be wrong with the design of the spout, but I have never gotten a clean pour out of the press. There's drips down the side if your half-fill or underfill the press. It POURS down the side if you slightly overfill it. Your counters will have coffee on them every time you use this press. - I bought this press largely for the visual indicators of water level and coffee level, but these are basically unusable. It's hard to get the right lighting and angle to see the coffee line and the water line is kind of a no brainer. I feel a bit silly for valuing this so much initially. - The paint begun to chip after about 8-months of use. Unfortunate, but doesn't effect the use at all. No regrets, but also would re-buy or gift to someone looking for a french press.

After years of drinking high quality coffee but using a drip machine I finally broke down and bought my french press. The reason I chose this model is that it’s insulated and I like HOT coffee. I prefer a bolder brew so normally let mine go about 20 minutes and my coffee is always piping hot. The cleanup is easy and the plunger works smoothly. I’m going to include my quick lesson for what I think is the perfect french press cup. Weigh your coffee to the amount that gives you the consistency you like, there are guides online for various brew strengths. Put the ground coffee in the bottom of the pot, pour the hot, filtered water over it, give a quick stir to be sure it’s all in the process, place the top on without pushing the plunger, wait 15-20 minutes, remove the top and use a couple of tablespoons to remove the grounds that have floated to the top, replace the top and proceed to push the plunger down VERY SLOWLY so as not to disturb the grounds at the bottom, go ahead and press the plunger all of the way down, some instructions will tell you to only push it to the top of the water but I disagree, once the plunger is firmly pressed to the bottom gently pour the coffee into your mug. This gives me an amazing cup of grounds free coffee every time. If you’re on the fence about moving to a french press take the leap it is sooo worth it

I'm studying how to make a better cup of coffee, and French Press has been on my list to get into for some time. This press was on sale for Prime Early Access, so I picked it up, as I don't want to get a glass carafe unit, given some horror stories I've gotten from my sister on them breaking. This is a stylish device I have no issue leaving on my counter with the rest of my coffee accoutrements. Not that how it looks was on the top of my list, but it did surprise me a little bit with just how nice it looks. The carafe keeps coffee warm for an exceptionally long period of time. I've now poured second cups or top-offs as much as 4 hours later and the coffee was still warm enough to warm my mug. I was quite surprised with that element of performance. The instructions are simple, and basically the same as any other French Press -- put coffee in, heat water, pour it in, stir, wait, press. So far, this has produced really flavorful cups using the 100% Kona I brought back from a recent HI trip. I've had only one instance (out of several carafes made now) where grounds got into my cup, and I think that was user error, not a fault of the device, but I'm definitely on the lookout for more failures to determine if there is some flaw in the system. Basically, I had accidentally unscrewed the bottom part of the filter and didn't notice when I put the plunger back into the carafe. My next cups after discovering that have had no grounds, so I'm pretty sure it was me, not the press, but we'll see. Where the unit fails me is in the element where Fellow stresses their superiority so significantly -- coffee to water ratio and ease of use with this press. From the product page for this brewer: "EASY TO USE - Take the guesswork out of making the perfect French press with the coffee and hot water lines marked within the coffee carafe; Bada bing, bada brew!" I'm not sure in what different and alternate universes the Engineers and the marketing team had to be living in between the reality of this solution and its promotion. There are, absolutely, markings on the interior of the carafe for coffee and for water. In no universe subjected to the same laws of light physics as the one in which I live, will you be able to actually USE those markings. The markings are simple raised elements in the stainless steel. The water line is visible when looking into the carafe at the right angle, but the coffee line is so deep (as it would naturally need to be) that unless you explicitly shine a flashlight or you have under cabinet lighting you can direct, will you be able to see and use it. The product rating lost a whole star for me because of the aggressive marketing of this simply not living up to the hype. I still need to measure my coffee out to achieve the best possible cup, which they explicitly say I'll no longer need to do! This could be fixed with a slight redesign, I think. The challenge with the marking is it basically being invisible when looking into the carafe without the perfect angle and lighting, because it is just a raised embossment on one small point on the steel. Well, what if you made that line go all the way around the entire circumference and raised the embossment higher, or better yet, made that steel an entirely different color? Then you'd be able to clearly see a distinct top level for your coffee, and if you put bands in at different ratios, you could more easily see options for a coffee to water ratio. It would be a more difficult build, but this is already being charged a premium for, what would be a little more? I'm not going to stop using this for sure, because it definitely does produce a nice cup of coffee, but I will stay on the lookout for other options that make adopting this mode of preparation easier.

This isn't a magical french press, so let's start with that. The high price is because of the brand, the fact that this insulated and it's a gorgeous, premium product. I decided to go with this french press because I wanted something that would keep my coffee warm and match the matte black/walnut aesthetic of my coffee station. It works great and relatively easy to clean up. I appreciate the inclusion of the agitator, but I typically use one of my silicone jar scrappers when it is time to clean it as the wooden agitator is kinda useless in that regard. This is definitely something you need to hand wash carefully as you don't want to damage the wood handles but I treated both handles with butcher block oil to help protect them. I wish this was a little bit bigger, but outside of those few things, I really like this french press.

A well-made, robust coffee pot. The filter / plunger is well designed and, unlike others I've used, does not require dismantling to wash. The plunger has a nice silicone seal around the edge. Weirdly this sometimes 'sticks' a little on the way down, and sometimes slides smoothly. I'm not sure why and it's not a problem, but a quirk of the design. The pot I have is robust enough to take a whack when emptying the spent coffee grounds and, after more than a year of daily use, the handle, a potential weak point in the construction, remains firm, in spite of being knocked about when banging to loosen and empty the soggy grounds. I hand wash mine, so don't know how it would fare in the dishwasher. The only sign of a weakness is that, after many many months of daily use, the paint finish around the upper lip of the jug has some small areas where it is coming away slightly. This is purely cosmetic and not a problem, given the overall quality. I would buy another one if mine should give up for any reason. I really like it.

Nice insulated coffee jug

It looks great and it's easy to clean. The selling point for me was keeping coffee warm because I was tired of it cooling down too quickly in my glass press. This product over-delivers -- I've poured warm coffee out of it after something like three hours. Beware that the plunger sometimes requires a bit of force, but I have a feeling it may loosen up over time; I've only used it three times so far. I hesitated for a long time because it's an expensive press, but no regrets.

Well I think it is at least. I had this French press on my wish list for a full year having seen it at a friends house. It is everything I hoped it would be and it has killer looks. The walnut handle is the cherry on the cake.

I was a bit apprehensive to purchase this because of the price. I am so glad I decide to buy it after all. The coffee stays HOT, not warm for at least two hours or more. I live in a European condo with limited kitchen space and do not have a microwave. Therefore, the traditional french press will not work since it gets cold so quickly. If you decide to purchase I hope you will be as happy as I am drinking my coffee. PS The fit and feel is of quality. The lid seals and fits snug and it looks pretty cool too!
