Is it possible to not use the alarm function if i'd like to? i don't need it but i like the safe. thank you for any help, god bless

You can disable the alarm function. The steps are listed in the manual: https://www.yalehome.com/Yale/Yale%20US/Support/Alarmed%20Value%20Safes/ALARM_SAFE_MANUAL_V10_121519.pdf

Can the lock be defeated with a magnet?

No, the safes have been tested and cannot be opened with a magnet.

Can this be mounted sideways so that the door folds down.

I think it could be mounted side ways. I have mine sitting on a shelf. There are 4 holes in the bottom that can be bolted in any direction, the door would just open down with no problem. Bill Cotton
