Can you use this to make candle wicks ?

These are Beeswax discs in a plastic case that has slots in it to run thread through. As long as the wicking material wasn't too thick, it might work to pull it through. You could always take the wax disc out of the plastic and use it on its own. It is a soft wax

Can you use this wax for silk embroidery thread? Will the wax take away the shine from silk thread?

I would not use this wax on silk embroidery thread. It would probably take the shine off. This wax is best for cotton thread.
