Can this product be used to spray on carbon steel to turn it a cooper patina color?

yes, copper sulfate is used in the formula to make copper patina. You do have to acidify the copper sulfate a little more to do this.

does it work on dead roots

When I make recommendations regarding copper sulfate I am referring to our EPA labeled bags as those are registered to kill tree roots, algae, and be a fungicide in some cases. Copper sulfate will work to clear tree roots from the drain but if they are already dead and in excess, it will be a good idea to roto-rooter those out. Use copper sulfate twice a year to help prevent further growth.

How much would you use to prevent roots in a main sewer line? And frequency?

I use 1/2 of the package once per month....and it seems to reduce the likelihood of the roots from going as fast, but they ultimately grow in the sewer line and always end up having to have it rooted at some point, which is much more costly...so this helps me to not have to do the rooting as often by adding a half bag every month.

how do i apply it to kill tree stumps?

Copper Sulfate will not kill/rot tree stumps. Copper Sulfate can be used to kill trees via the tree's roots. To kill /rot tree stumps, drill a few holes in the stump and carefully pour in batery acid. It will take a year or two. Otherwise, you can dig out the stump or pay a tree stump rooter.
