This guide covers numerous parts of Batman's history, from his first appearance in 1939 to the modern day. It covers the character's development, grown, his equipment, personality, even Batman's preferred diet! Every friend, foe, and everyone in between. Major story arcs like The Killing Joke, Death in the Family, Dark Knight Returns, Flashpoint, Infinite Crisis, Batman Inc., and even the Dark Multiverse. It's hard to summarize everything in the book though. There's even a cursory map of Gotham City (although Gotham's layout tends to be fairly fluid across interpretations so as to provide the maximum flexibility for authors). The one issue I have with this book is that it does NOT include non-comic book information. It mentions the 1966 TV series but that's about it. The various TV series such as Batman the Animated Series, Superfriends, the DC Animated Universe, and movies such as the 1989 Michael Keaton, Chris Nolan Dark Knight Trilogy, and the 2022 Batman movie, and video games such as the Arkham series, is not mentioned. This book is best looked at as a primer on Batman's COMIC BOOK lore, not TV, Video Game, or Movie lore. So if you're expecting to see any of that covered, brace for disappointment. But overall, this book is simply a must for any Batman fan. Review: Very descriptive and vibrant - This was birthday gift for my daughter and She Loves it!! We are huge comic fans and this book didn’t disappoint. It was so good we are looking forward to other characters who have their own “encyclopedia” books.
