Costume Badge Ornate Brass Sheriff Old West Prop

I bought this as a joke for a family gathering. After seeing a very funny live performance about someone who wanted the family meal to be only as she dictated, they started calling her the Sheriff. So, as a joke, I wanted this badge for our family meal. It was a really big hit. We laughed all day. As for the quality of this item, it is really nice. Looks old world.

It's large and solid metal, feels sturdy. I didn't care much for the fake patina that made it look dark and dull, but just a few minutes of metal polishing cleaned off the patina. That produced a nice gold-colored shine, but the engraving was difficult to see because it's not a contrasting color. A few minutes with a black Sharpie to fill in the engraving, then more metal polish to clean off the excess Sharpie... Resulted in a beautiful, legible, shiny gold-colored badge. Too bad I had to work so hard for it..

This is a nice thing. I bought it for use in a play, and it's heavy and solidly constructed, not cheap at all. I highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for an old-fashioned sherriff star that can take some abuse.

Badge arrived quickly and exactly as described. Looks good! We did use a Sharpie to fill in the lettering as others have done. Very nice quality!

I purchased the Sheriff's Badge for an Escape Room prop, and I'm really happy with it. The badge is sturdy and looks great. It is metal, and substantial without being too heavy. I'm 100% pleased with my purchase.

I was so excited by the photo depiction, it was exactly what I wanted or so I thought. Good quality, hefty metal badge construction but NOT as depicted in photo. Was expecting brass badge with a shiny silver tone finish with brass carving design detail. Badge is a very dull, flat antiqued brass finish as seen in other buyers personal photos. Beautiful design is completely lost on the brass on brass finish. Not what I was looking for after all.

Price value is there. The distressed look is achieved with ink. I thought it was tarnished and used rubbing compound, but alchohol, acetone, or MEK, would probably clean it up well. I was going to hit it with spray paint, but used sharpies due to reading another review. Very happy with the results. For the price delivered to the door, I don't think you can beat this product. Our intent is using it as a costume piece, to be clear, this is not a collectable.
