Eat Happy has 154 delicious grain-free, gluten-free recipes that are also free of any processed sugars. There are meats, fish, sides, soups, starters, casseroles, slow cooker recipes, breakfast dishes, and even desserts to satisfy any sweets craving you might have, all with virtually no sugar. If you are low carb, paleo, are wanting to keep autoimmune issues at bay, or just want to lose extra weight, Eat Happy gives you comfort food where you won’t miss the sugars or grains so your body and brain can feel happy from eating real foods. In 2012, after almost ten years of being gluten free due to celiac, Anna Vocino found she was gaining weight faster than a tick on a labradoodle. Turns out the culprit wasn’t overeating or too much fat in the diet, but the pesky sugars and grains in all those gluten free comfort foods. When Anna started podcasting with Fitness Confidential author Vinnie Tortorich, she adapted her entire way of eating to go what Tortorich coined: NSNG—No Sugars No Grains. Sure enough, the weight dropped off, the inflammation due to celiac finally calmed down, and for the first time in her life, she learned what it meant to be truly happy about food. All of Anna’s recipes are delicious, easy to make, and so satisfying, you won’t even know you’re eating healthy. Craving rich, decadent chocolate pots with fresh cream that are delicious but not fattening? Wanna make a grain-free pizza crust that actually helps you lose weight? Dying for pancakes, but you’ve committed to avoiding carbs? How about hearty shepherd’s pie, tater tots, sizzling ginger rice, all made with cauliflower instead of high carb rice and potatoes? Eat Happy offers low carb comfort foods to please the entire family. Review: Only Cookbook You Will Ever Need! - Omg, seriously. I may never buy another cookbook again. Listen, 1. Review: A must-have for anyone dealing with autoimmune or mood issues, such as celiac, fibromyalgia, RA, depression, eating disorders - If you have been told that it would be better for your health to eliminate sugar and processed foods from your diet due to autoimmune or mood disorders, you too probably felt overwhelmed - I already don’t feel great, and now I have to plan meals, shop and cook? My fun with food is over. I totally get it because I have been dealing with all of these for 25 years. None of the pharmaceutical options worked well for me. Though I had been introduced to managing chronic illness through nutrition, I wasn’t ready until last year when I learned of recent studies showing that the meds the doctors recommended for me can contribute to dementia. Since I had exhausted every other option, I decided to try healing my body with nutrition. Luckily for me, I discovered Anna Vocino’s recipes at the same time. She totally gets it too. Her recipes call for basic ingredients that don’t require a lot of expensive kitchen gadgets or endless hours with multiple steps, just simple, good food that’s easy to prepare and tastes delicious. Seriously, you take a bite of one of these dishes and say to yourself or anyone at the table, oh that is good. If you are dealing with food sensitivities, such as dairy, most of the recipes are easy to adjust. It’s been almost 11 months of eating this way and here are the results: I’m off all medication for mood, sleep and pain and lost 15 lbs. I thought it would be super boring and way too much work, but Anna’s recipes are so tasty that we have invited friends and family over for dinner more this year more than ever before. The food is too good not to share. Both my husband and 12-year-old daughter (notorious for being a picky eater) love Anna’s recipes, and we are saving money by eating dinners together at home. So, I was wrong. My food life is actually more fun and satisfying. Thank you so much Anna. Do yourself a favor and buy this book!

My fun with food is over. I totally get it because I have been dealing with all of these for 25 years. None of the pharmaceutical options worked well for me. So far so good, from a cooking novice
This book so far is great. It is beautiful and easy to read. Lots of pictures, although not all recipes are pictured but many of those are items featured in picture of other recipes (like the almond pita chips are pictured with the tzatziki sauce and olive tapenade). Upon arrival, I looked through the whole book with my husband, and even he is excited to try all of the healthy new recipes, even (or maybe especially) the ultra-low-sugar delicious-looking desserts. I like that she has a brief description of many of the recipes the beginning of each one and mentions possible variations and substitutions in the recipe text. That makes me excited and confident to try experimenting right away after making it "by the book" just once. I had trouble finding the online bonuses mentioned in the intro to the book, but I actually received an email response from the author with the link I needed. Wow! Since I am new at cooking and meal planning, I figured I'd just go through the book in order, Julie and Julia style, so I don't get overwhelmed by the idea of full meal planning, and cooking (or shopping for) more than one thing at once. (Yes, that's how much of a beginner I am.) I've only worked through the first two so far, but they were easy and delicious, even though the second one was intimidating to me - definitely building up my kitchen confidence! I'm even going to start shopping for two recipes at a time next, lol. I saw a review before purchasing that complained about the ingredient list details (particularly regarding sausage), but if you just read through the recipe once before going shopping (which is always a good idea anyway, for many reasons) then that shouldn't be a problem. And I think all the recipes are one page or less of text (including ingredient list) so that should be easy to do as well.

A sauce-stained Kindle isn't a bad thing...
I downloaded the book to my Kindle which now has a permanent place in my kitchen so that we can easily access Eat Happy. As a new inductee into the NSNG way of eating, this book helped me to make the transition seamlessly and, more importantly, convenient and fun. Even if you aren't NSNG, the food is so good, that you won't feel the least bit deprived. I enjoy cooking and found that Anna's recipes are approachable and even managed to convert my man's aversion to zucchini--that in itself is reason enough to love this book! I made the Prosciutto Wrapped Peaches for a dinner party and they were such a huge hit that my friends constantly request that I make it. For those who want to start cooking, the book also helps you set up your pantry and with those staples, you have a strong foundation to start cooking. I'm taking my time cooking through her book because some recipes are so damn good, I make them multiple times. Whenever I'm stumped for ideas for dinner, I turn to Anna's book. The bottom line is that this book is great. It made cooking more fun and adventurous. The recipes are delicious, the instructions are clear and approachable. There are so many options that it will satisfy even the pickiest of eaters. Buy it, cook from it, learn from it, live by it, gift it to others.

Great introduction to eating without added sugar.
This is an excellent book. I'm writing this after finishing leftover Chicken Parm with Rosemary Sweet Potato Hash I made yesterday. I usually despise leftovers, but this stuff is good. Really good. I bought this book because I decided to try the "No Sugar No Grain" diet. I hate fad diets, but I tried it out of desperation. After losing and gaining the same 50-70 pounds on Low Fat, Whole Food, Weight Watchers, etc, I decided to give NSNG a try. Mostly because it eliminates the things I tend to overeat: bread, breakfast cereal, bagels, doughnuts, ice cream, tortillas, rice, pasta, candy...... I'm very happy with the ease of these recipes after trying a few out. I am not a skilled cook, but I can follow directions and food is turning out pretty good. There is plenty of room for mistakes - for instance I made the Flaxseed Blueberry Walnut pancakes and they turned out more like underdone hamburger patties. If I pressed them thinner they would have been great. I still ate them; tasty and I wasn't hungry in an hour like regular pancakes. One feature I really like about the book is that it does NOT list fat, carb, protein counts. I have done the counting and it never did a thing for me. If someone wants those macronutrient details, they are plastered on all the ingredients you use. Speaking of ingredients, some of them can be a little spendy. Not outrageous and still far less than eating out at restaurants, but if someone is going to jump into these recipes, be prepared to shell out a little more during the initial grocery store visits One item that shocked me was the Cheese Crisp snack. I would have never thought of cooking a thin circle of shredded cheese on a frying pan, nor would I have thought it would be good to eat. But it is! A fantastic, decadent snack. I bought the kindle version and having the app on my phone is extremely handy for shopping. Thanks! dc

Feel Good and Enjoy with 'Eat Happy...'
This is a great recipe book! So far, everything I have attempted to make has been delicious and that is the main indicator of a good cookbook for me. My very particular husband loved the Machaca. I made the roasted chicken twice and it came out amazing both times (I was eating it as I was carving it, I just couldn't stop). The zucchini pasta Bolognese was delicious and fed far more than 2-4 people! We tried the Flamenquines and learned that the pork really does need to be1/4" thick, so we're going to try that one again (it was so good, my picky husband WANTS to try it again!). I was a little put off when some of the ingredients weren't specific on sizes (i.e. 'a can of artichokes' instead of specifying the size of the can), but have learned that the 'amount' is up to my discretion as the cook. For the next book, I would suggest providing page numbers on the chapter summary lists or include an index to make recipes easier to find. Until then, I will enjoy searching page by page as the pictures are fabulous and it is so fun just to browse through it.

This is the book for you if you want delicious low carb, gluten free, grain free recipes that are easy to make!
Studies have shown that reducing excess carbohydrates in your diet can help with the following problems: - Excess Weight - Fatigue and Sleepiness - Brain Fog - Bloating - Low Blood Sugar - High Blood Pressure - High Triglycerides Modern food processing techniques resulting in 'hidden' sugars and our reliance on processed food in our diet can have the affect of too many carbohydrates in our bodies. As a way of combating this, NSNG (No Sugars No Grains) was a phrase coined by Fitness Trainer to the stars Vinnie Tortorich who, together with Anna Vocino, the books author, has built a popular podcast and Facebook group. Anna is very honest about her journey with Celiac disease and having to give up gluten, dairy and sugar. When she started down this path, there weren't a lot of resources for eating this way. This cookbook is the result of many years of developing recipes that addressed her new way of eating. In addition to writing a cookbook and having a top rated podcast, she is a busy wife, mom, actress and comedian who still wants to feed her family. These recipes are easy to follow, don't use a lot of exotic ingredients, and are geared towards those of us who are busy and have better things to do than spend hours in the kitchen each day. If you are interested in Gluten Free, Grain Free, Low Carb eating, you owe it to yourself to check this book out. The recipes and DELICIOUS and you won't feel deprived. I've taken several dishes to social gatherings and had rave reviews. No one knew they were eating a gluten/grain free low carb dish.

Voiceover Foodie’s Super Approachable and Delicious Recipes
I adore Anna V. I came to know her through her co-hosting The Angriest Trainer podcast and from there subscribed to her cooking blog. Her blog is actually an amalgam of her immense cooking talents along with her career as a voice over artist and standup comic. This book in written in the same humorous, fun-loving voice I have come to love on her podcasts and blog. I have been cooking recipes from her blog for over a year. Anna has been open about her life with Celiac as well as embracing a Paleo-type protocol by adopting a no sugar/no grain NSNG approach and turning us on to all the amazing things we can eat. She offers up her backstory as part of her cookbook adventure. This book is really for anyone who is looking to eat real, unprocessed, and wholesome food. She offers plenty of options for all meal aspects including appetizers, mains, sides, breakfasts, condiments, etc. The meals are open to substitutions for whatever you have on hand or prefer. She smartly puts all desserts in their rightful place as mindful treats. I cannot wait to try her pumpkin pie recipe which she painstakingly created over and over till she found the lowest passable amount of sugar. Straightforward, accessible, and best of all…easy. Many of these meals can be made with ingredients you have on hand right now, like tonight! This is an easy, comfortable, no stress approach to food wrapped in a gorgeous hard cover gift worthy book. This cookbook is going to be a staple in my kitchen
This book has been on my wish list since I first heard about it on Vinnie Tortorich NSNG Facebook page and have been a lazy low carber for years and there are some really good recipes in it..Breakfast for me is difficult but there is such a variety of different recipes, I don’t think I’ll be bored for a while..there is a dessert section that uses coconut sugar for a few recipes but for those special occasions when you want to have a treat “Anna’s pumpkin pie” is going to be in my menu..I won’t wait so long to buy her next book

Danke Anna!

Great recipes - poor quality binding
I love this recipe book. So much that I just ordered the second one. However, I’ve had the only two months and the pages are falling out of the binding... Which is extremely disappointing given that the book is rather expensive. I’d give the recipes 5 stars, but the quality of the book 0...

Eat heathy, be happy ....... O and stay thin :-) !!!!
This book has obviously been put together with a lot of care and attention. It contains really well presented information, wonderful recipes that are simple and healthy. So far I have managed to eat breakfast lunch and dinner from this book and have enjoyed everything. Got friends coming around this weekend so the Paleo Pumkin pie will be getting a thorough examination.

Delicious and easy-to-prepare recipes that omit sugars and grains
I love this book -- it's made my effort to remove sugars and grains from my daily meals much easier. Since I'm not an experienced cook, the photos and easy to follow instructions work for me. To hear more from Anna (the author), subscribe to the Vinnie Tortorich podcast (she's the co-host) and sign up to Anna's email newsletter (she regularly shares new recipes). Thanks for writing this, Anna!
