Ethique Clarifying Shampoo Bar for oily hair with Castor Oil - Plastic-Free, Vegan, Cruelty-Free, 3.88 oz - Formerly St. Clements

This is the best shampoo I’ve ever used, regardless of the format (bar or liquid). It leaves my thick, fine hair feeling soft and clean. I live in an RV, and it’s common for RV dwellers to shower less often than house dwellers, so my oily hair gets some buildup. I brush the oil through my hair to moisturize my hair as much as possible, then I wash it. The shampoo removes the oil without leaving my hair overly degreased. It’s effective without being harsh. It smells like real lemongrass, which is lovely. I was concerned that if I left it on a shelf in the shower it would melt, so I bought some fine mesh bags to hold the shampoo, conditioner, and soap bars, and I hung them from hooks I adhered to the shower walls. Now the shampoo bar works very well, and I don’t have to remove it from its bag, either to use it or to let it dry.

Amazing shampoo!! Out of the bar shampoos I have tried, these are clearly the best. My hair feels great. It lathers really well and rinses out completely. I have a bar conditioner that I use mainly on the longer parts of my hair and the ends. I only wash my hair twice a week. I like the new crescent shape of the bar over the cube-like shape it used to be. I love that my shower is almost plastic free!! I have been using this brand for about 2 years and I'm sold.

This is my go-to shampoo. I’ve used so many kinds over the years, but this bar keeps my hair soft and from getting buildup. I cut it in half and it lasts longer by not being wet every time you wash. Great for carryon travel as well.

When I first started using this shampoo bar, I really liked it. My scalp felt very clean and refreshed, and I was even able to go an extra day between washes at the beginning. After a couple of weeks, though, I noticed that my scalp started getting oily much faster, and I had to wash my hair daily again. Looking back, I think it might have been a bit too clarifying for my scalp and possibly left it feeling overly dry, which may have triggered more oil production. I’ve since switched to a different shampoo and started applying a small amount of aloe gel to my scalp after washing, and that has helped balance things out. This experience made me realize that my scalp is actually dry underneath but oily on the surface. I think this bar could work well for truly oily scalps, but it’s important to really understand your scalp type before choosing a clarifying product.

I don't have a lot of hair, so I think of shampoo as more of a scalp treatment and I decided to try this because my scalp has always been covered by a thick layer of oil and this product is designed to deal with that. So far, so good, and, as it's primarily for my scalp, this bar should last a long time. I've been using it for a couple of weeks and it's showing little sign of wear.

Caused my scalp to break out. I tried for almost 2 months. I thought it was everything else, using too much, not rinsing well enough, transition. I have oily skin and scalp. But its something in this shampoo bar. Once I stopped it, the breakouts stopped. It happens I suppose. Otherwise, I was happy. The bar lasted and I still have a lot left. The longer I used it, the less I needed to use. It gathered amazingly well considering we have well water. My hair seemed happy, curls held nicely without much else. But my scalp was itchy and broke out terribly. Just not the one for me.
