Introduction to Linear Algebra (Gilbert Strang, 2)

Great insight into linear algebra from Gilbert Strang who make very difficult things seem trivial.

I never thought that linear algebra is that useful in real life. I was enrolled in a master program and my first course was computer vision. There were massive amount of math and mostly were linear algebra. I felt like I lacked all enough comfort with linear algebra and thought that I could have understood many topics much better if I got a good book. Hell, this book is awesome. It has all what I need specially SVD and PCA. I don't care much about solving problems as to understand the meaning of linear algebra and its logic. I must admit that prior reading this book I had good grasp of what a matrix is and how we can formulate our data as a matrix, which opened the world of applications I can apply all the techniques of linear algebra on. Dr.Gilbert is a man who knows how to deliver high quality information to you, but you as a reader must also have the role of analyzing what you read and try to find an application of interest in your head where you can practice what you read. I looked at 10s of books before deciding to buy this one, and the only book which I felt comfortable with was this one. The only problem is that this book is expensive, but in my opinion, this books deserves every dollar and is a must in any machine lerning, artificial intelligence, computer vision, game programer or any field engineer library

Amazing book. I watched Professor Strang's Linear Algebra lectures on Youtube before buying this book. I delayed in buying this book because I thought that all the information on linear algebra can be found on the internet for free. Why do I have to buy a $90 book? But I had a hard time understanding linear algebra even after taking a course in college, watching youtube videos, and reading explanations online. So, I gave in and bought this book. Now, I realize what an amazing investment this has been. Worth every penny. In fact, it might be too cheap that this book is only worth $90. I wish I had bought this book many years ago. Professor Strang is a genius in his understanding of math. But more important is that he is a genius in explaining difficult concepts and making it easy to understand. If you're trying to learn and/or understand linear algebra, save yourself a lot of trouble by buying this book.

I loved the book and the speed of delivery, but the packaging for the protection of the book was poor. When I opened the box (the box was in good state) all there was a raw book and some scrap brown paper underneath it. The book was in a good state except some dent in the cover.

Strang has a beautiful intuitive approach to linear algebra. Yes, that does mean he dives into things more rapidly and presents things in a less systematic way. I actually find it a relief that it doesn't read like a cookie-cutter book. There are many hidden gems of intuition and the relationship of linear algebra to broader mathematics in this textbook if you review it carefully. Strang's heavily graphical approach helps to relate the equations to the additional visual intuition that drives the understanding of mathematics for many people. Strongly recommended.

Gilbert Strang is a master teacher. He will be missed now that he has retired, but his video classes will be around for a very long time to help students learn this very important subject

Having studied linear algebra years ago, I stumbled on to the MIT lectures on youtube by accident one day. Watching Gilbert Strang's linear algebra lecture, I was inspired to check out the text book. One thing led to another and I was doing all of the exercises and watching the lectures. This is an excellent well thought out textbook, with tons of meaningful exercises that are really helpful for understanding. Thank you, thank you, thank you for providing such an excellent text to go along with your lectures.

This is one of the best books I have started reading for Linear Algebra. Cause I am starting an M.Sc. in AI study I have searched for a comprehensive and clear introduction to Linear Algebra. Starting looking plenty of Mr. Gilbert Strangs video lessons 18.06 finally I found the best source to remember and improve the understanding of this very important field. In addition, I bought this new version of his LA books and I didn't regret it. One thing I have to mention for all of the people who are interesting to buy this book, too, is to see some of his lessons if you like the teaching style he is using, cause the book uses the same style and sometimes some things are not so clear when you read them first. But if you like it, I believe that this is the best source for Linear Algebra some can get. Conclusion: If you see all the lectures at 18.06 and read this book, you don't need any other sources to get a comprehensive understanding in Linear Algebra.

It makes linear algebra very easy to understand.
