Is the keyboard is non functioning?

This is designed to be like the Genesis and Playstation and other mini type devices to play games on, not a full blown computer. 
That said, Retro Games Ltd. did the same exact thing with the thec64 Mini, and then made the full sized version with functional keyboard later. I could see them doing that with this as well. 
Buy this for what it is (which is really cool) and they will have money to make more cool stuff - I want a full size The1200 with functional keyboard next!

Question 2

How many usb ports does this have? The C64 Mini really needed one more usb port.

Accepted Answer

The A500 has 3 built in USB slots: one for the mouse, one for the gamepad, and one for a USB mass storage device. Any cheap USB hub will work if you need extra ports, i.e. for a second gamepad or joystick.

*However* Be aware that only one USB mass storage device can be recognized at a time by the A500. If you have, say, two thumb sticks inserted at once, or a thumb stick in one port and a floppy drive in another port, the A500 will ignore one or the other. I don’t know what gives one drive priority over another but that’s what it does.

Question 4

Will the keyboard part be fully functional? I'm sure some people may want to try programming on it.

The people who would want to try programing on it, wouldn't care about this or this keyboard, we all have real Amiga's still. lol
Besides, this is a mini, you're fingers would cover up 4 keys at a time.

As others have mentioned, an external USB keyboard would work fine if you're looking to get your ADOS on, but so would WINUAE or Amiberry.

Just buy this for what it's intended for, playing some classic games while being non-committal in purchasing a full blown Amiga, scratch your itch and enjoy.

And if you're really feeling 'exploratory' and want to get your juices flowing, YouTube some videos on it and observe some people owning it, ripping it apart, modding it or simply benchmarking it.

Bottom line, just enjoy it for what it is!
