Absolute time saver, in correct materials.
If you don't know about Tap Bits, Drill Taps, whichever you choose to call them...they are a huge time saver. By name implied, they drill, the tap the hole to the thread size. Drill at a medium speed, medium light pressure. Once it moves down to the tap, go slow. Do not go all the way through, only 1/2 way. There's no need to chance cross threading after passing the tap area. Stop, reverse out slow, but not at a crawl, boom done. I use a deburing tool for any tidbits fragments. This one was great. Quick to drill, and easy tapping. I would definitely buy again in #6. I already own, and DW from #8 - 3/8. These bits are a fabricators wish come true. These are not made for hard metals, or anything past 1/8" steel, and 1/4" aluminum. Use lube on deeper taps for sure. Trust me, you'll love them.PS, if you break these off in your project, your pretty ....outta luck. The bits are hardened steel alloy, and makes removal almost impossible.
