Lena Menstrual Cups Set (Small & Large) Period Cup, Purple & Turquoise

Hi everyone! I bought the 2 pack that contained a small and a large. I suffer from frequent UTIs, particularly during that time of the month. A doctor suggested I switch to menstrual cups because it’s no secret that pads/tampons can harbor bacteria. My doctor said this could be a more sanitary option. I have medium flow periods that last about 4 days so I gave this a shot. I got both in the mail and initially tried the large. For background, I’m 28 years old, 5ft 7in and 145 lbs and have never had children or been pregnant. I could NOT get the large cup inside of me at all. It simply would not fit. I’ve read other reviews that said the small may work best for women who have never given birth so I tried that one and it fit PERFECTLY inside me. The process of inserting it, removing it and cleaning it took some getting used to just as any new product will. I got the hang of it after a couple times of emptying it out, cleaning it and reinserting it. (Usually had to do this 2 times a day). When I first put it in, I did notice that I felt like I had to pee for a few minutes but that went away & I only felt that the very first time I put it in. I had ZERO leakage with this and barely even noticed it was in there! Also, I had no irritation at all like I typically do when I wear a pad or tampon. And NO UTI! Thank goodness. Added bonus: I’m using less waste and saving money with these! Win-win for me and the environment. My only complaint is that pulling it out was a bit difficult for me. The suction was STRONG lol. But I just had to learn to kinda push *down there* and had no problem after that. Give it a shot if you’re curious.

I cannot recommend this enough! I decided to try a different Diva Cup for my first and realized that the 'tail' of it was far too short and had a hard time removing it - and that is stress that is not needed nor at all pleasant. These two are the perfect size(es) with a great tail length if your cervix sits a bit higher (good to know, thanks Diva Cup). My period tends to run really heavy the first two to three days (replacing a super plus tampon every two hours heavy) but with this I can easily go 4+ hours without replacing or worrying about leaking with the smaller cup. On my heaviest days, I just use the slightly larger one and have been completely fine for 8 hours - I recommend using a panty liner still for any slight leakage that may happen from it not being in right. What is possibly the best part - I don't have to stress about staining my sheets anymore even on the heaviest nights. I just put on a pad and put this in - and I am fine. I've yet to have any type of issue with removing them - sometimes you have to bear down a bit but they are so easy to grip and remove, nor any issues with leakage. They are really easy to change in public too, easy to fit in your bag, easy to clean ( I use hot water to rinse them before and after each cycle). They have helped me save a ton of money on pads and tampons and saved me from a lot of stress that normally comes with my period. You also don't have to worry about that horrible dry tampon insertion, with these, if you put them in on a light day - there is no pain in inserting or removing them. I cannot recommend these enough - they are a real game changer!! Plus they come in cute little bags (great for storing them in between cycles) and a cute box which is always a plus :)

First time cup user here, I love using the cup! But I wish I would have started out using a softer cup. The lena cup is suppose to be a medium firm cup and I thought I could handle it right away, but while it works perfect it did leave me feeling a bit sore. UPDATE: Lena contacted me via email about my review and sent me a softer cup free of charge. I am super impressed with the customer service. My review of the origanal cup was four stars and it worked perfect and I love it but, it was just a little too firm. My new cup the Lena sensitive is literally perfect. It is a little harder to get to pop open than the firmer cup, but it just takes some wiggling around and trying different cup insertation styles. It has not leaked at all even though it is so much softer, it still seals perfectly and its SUPER comfortable. Once it's in I cant even feel it, it is so amazing and freeing to not have to worry about toxic shock syndrome, leakage, changing pads/tampons, and killing the earth with my trash. I am really pleased with Lena as a brand and my new cup! ***Update: I seriously love my cup. When I read all of the reviews that said "life-changing" I was like, yeah right. But seriously ladies, it is LIFE CHANGING. I forgot my cup today and started my period and had to use pads for the first time in a couple months and I was miserable! I was so happy to get home and put in my cup! Seriously, I will never go back to gross moist smelly pads/tampons. Another plus, my cramps are less intense and my period got three days shorter, yes thats right I only have 2-3 day periods now as opposed to my 5-6 day. I love this cup. I will never go back.

Review from the wife: I am a 40-year old woman who weighs approximately 170 pounds. I have had 5 pregnancies and 3 vaginal births. I lOVE this device. It is easily inserted and goes in like a diaphragm. I tested it on a heavy day for 12-hours when I first got it and had absolutely no leakage! However, I do not recommend this for hygiene purposes. Normally, I wash it when I first wake up, every 4-hours and before I go to bed. I am not a fan of "Aunt Flo" because of how messy she can be but the Lena keeps hands and clothes clean. Things you must remember when using Lena: Do not try to wash in public restrooms. If you have to use a public restroom just leave the Lena alone and wait until you get home. It won't leak and it works better then a tampon so hygiene isn't a concern. Sit down when removing. It spills easily so keep over toilet bowl. Have a piece of toilet tissue on hand. The device will be slippery from natural body fluid and dry toilet tissue helps grip the device when removing. The only reason I gave the Lena 4-Stars out of 5 is because of the price. The smaller Lena shifts too much because it doesn't cup my cervix right and is basically useless to me. The smaller sized Lena would be perfect for teens and smaller woman who haven't had children yet. I use the larger size Lena works just fine from the first day until the last day "Aunt Flo" comes for a visit. However, this device will have to last a year before I see any savings since I have no use for the smaller sized Lena. I recommend purchasing a single pack rather then the 2-pack. Other then the price of the 2-pack, I highly recommend the Lena.

I first learned about menstrual cups when I saw that the period subscription box I was using offered Softcups. I was intrigued by the concept, so I gave them a try...and I loved them! This led me to look into reusable cups. Softcups are shaped and function very differently than reusable cups, so I did quite a bit of research before settling on Lena cups. The main cup that comes to mind when people mention menstrual cups is the Diva cup; however, I learned that Diva cups are some of the largest menstrual cups available, and that they're not a great fit for everyone. The cup has to be small enough to properly expand and lightly suction to the walls of your vagina. If it's too large, it won't seal and can collapse, which causes leaks and is also uncomfortable. Since I wasn't really sure how to measure myself, I didn't want to risk wasting a good bit of money on a cup that might be too big. So, I spent hours researching for some of the smallest cups I could find. I compared the width of the rim and the length of the body (not including the stem) of so many brands. It was actually a lot harder than I thought it would be since many brands don't list the measurements. It's great that most brands have a large and a small option, but one brand's small can be larger than another brand's large, which is maddening! For example, the small Diva is 43mm wide and 53mm long, while the large Lena cup is smaller at 45mm wide and 50.7mm long. This small Lena is 41mm wide and 46mm long, so it is significantly smaller than the small Diva. I believe the small Lena is a much better size for first-time users, unless you are absolutely certain that your cervix sits high during menstruation and can use a longer cup. Other things to consider when choosing a cup are what it's made of, where it was made, and what safety standards it meets. Lena cups are made of medical grade silicone, are made in the USA, and are FDA-registered, so I was confident that it was safe to use. Now, for what I love about my Lena cup: • No more leaks!!! I've never had a leak during the day or even overnight, and I can actually wear nice underwear with confidence knowing that they won't be ruined. It holds so much more than the tampons I was using. When I first starting using a cup, I emptied it every few hours (like I did with tampons), and it was nowhere close to being full. I can safely go all day without having to empty the cup. • No more dealing with my period in a public restroom! I only have to empty it when I wake up and right before bed, which is the best thing ever! I can't even express how much I love not having to deal with it during the day. Public bathrooms are already not ideal, so not having to worry about changing a tampon is a huge plus! On heavy days (which are rare), I might have to empty it once during the day, but I literally have never needed to empty it in a public restroom in the 17 months that I've been using a cup...compared to changing tampons every few hours. If I do need to empty it in a public restroom, it's nice that I don't need to carry anything with me, and it's no messier than changing a tampon. • Better for my vagina! Tampons don't discriminate when they're absorbing, so they can really dry you out (and anyone who has ever pulled out a dry tampon knows how freaking painful that it is!). That messes with pretty much everything up there, especially the good bacteria and your pH level. They also increase your risk of developing toxic shock syndrome (TSS) because they absorb and trap any bad bacteria. Cups don't mess with any of that. Since they don't absorb anything, your vagina remains unchanged, so there's no bounce-back time after your period where it needs to rebuild the supply of good bacteria and get back to a healthy pH level. Your risk of developing TSS is also much, much lower, so menstrual cups are safer to use over longer periods of time. • Better for the environment and my wallet! I love that there's no trash (wrapper, applicator, the tampon itself) each time I use my cup. When you think about the thousands of tampons you'd use throughout your life, that's a lot of waste that won't end up in a landfill. And for the price of a few boxes of tampons, you'll get years of use out of a cup (as long as you take care of it). I'm saving a ton of money by not buying tampons every month, and I'm reducing the amount of waste I produce, so that's a win-win. I really don't have any negatives for these cups. My small pink has some minor staining after 17 months of use, which is completely normal and will happen with any cup you buy. I'm sure a dilute hydrogen peroxide soak will make it look brand new again. I bought this set as a backup, and I was curious to try the large, since the small works so well. It did fully open, but it was harder to remove because there was more suction and it was just a bigger cup to remove. I will continue to use my smalls, and I will keep the large for after I have children. If you've read through this mini-essay of a review, I hope it helped! The condensed version is that I cannot recommend these cups enough! They have truly changed everything about my period experience, and I no longer dread when it arrives. Do your research, look up tips, watch YouTube videos, and give them a try!!

Ok... for those of you who are 1st time cup users. Or, are like me. Who are reading countless reviews not know what cup to get... THIS REVIEW IS FOR ***Y O U***! I have heard about period cups for about 2 years now and have meant to get one. But I kept being cheap about it and unsure what one to get or the size?!?! A little about me... I am 35, I have 3 children. ALL born via c-section (not by choice). I am told I am very "tiny/tight" down "there". I am heavy set 5'4 and about 210lbs. I usually use MEGA and SUPER PLUS tampons because I have a crazy heavy flow... This caused me a lot of confusion as to what size I would be. So I bought the pack of small and large. At first glance when I opened the box. I automatically assumed I would need the large. However, when I tried inserting it. I couldn't get it to "open" and seal... I didn't give up. I ended up trying the small. Snipping the tail and it fit comfortably for my first period... A few suggestions... I change/clean mine 2-3 times a day. I do NOT suggest waiting 12 hours to clean it. It will begin to smell... and develop a slight odor. Here is what I do. I wake up. Take cup out. It sort of empties itself into the toilet. I am assuming you realize this is MESSY... and you clearly need to be comfortable and know your body... anyways, Before I empty it. I have a cup on the bathroom sink next to me with VERY hot water. And summers eve feminine wash inside... I empty out cup. Wipe myself. Then rinse in the sink and put in the cup for a few minutes. Rinse it out again at sink. And re-insert... mid way through the day. I will usually just empty it into the toilet. Wash in sink with warm water and antibacterial hand soap. Then re insert. I shower in the evening before bed. So when I take my shower. I take out my cup as I'm inside the shower. (Captain Morgan pose) and soak it a good 5-10 minutes in very hot water and summers eve feminine wash. I wash my body. I also use the feminine cleaner "water works" while in shower. And then I reinsert it when I'm done with the shower... works great. When this is inserted correctly. You will "just know." And you will not leak. After my first period using this device. It was a game changer for me. And a LIFE changer. My period wasn't such a BLEH stinky. Uncomfortable mess of constant Tampon changes. I'm only of those woman who HATE to wear a pad. And won't. Lol. That said, my second period last month... I started earlier and unexpected the day of my sons Birthday party. Luckily, I wasn't stressed because I had my cup and it was a life saver for me running around after 25 4/5 year olds. This period, I tried the large and it worked for me. On my HEAVY HEAVY day, it "fit" better... So this is what I do now... I wear my SMALL cup on my lighter days... or overnights when I don't tend to bleed as much. And I wear the LARGE cup during my heavy cycle days. It sounds weird to comfortably wear both cups. But, I do. I just ordered another set of 2 because I'm paranoid. I want my sister to try these also. I actually share how amazing these are with ALL friends... and I highly suggest all woman to try them as they too will have you wishing you started using them sooner. Lena seems to be pretty firm in feel. And made very well and are of a better quality then say the diva cup. I've looked at it at the store and it seems very big. Where as LENA is a tulip shape and I can see that it likely would hold more. And isn't flimsy. Awesome. Amazing product. Oh! And when you buy, LENA emails you a few times to check in on your and see if you need help with your cup. Great company.

For the last few years, by some weird chance happening, every time I take a vacation or trip my period comes along with me. Every. Single. Time. This last time we went up to Montana and Wyoming for a 10 day vacation of hiking, horseback riding and 4-wheeler excursions, all with my period on board. All of this was made possible with the Lena cups! I tried out a different (cheaper) brand a few months prior to my big vacation. I knew I had to change from tampons, where I was headed had no modern restrooms for 100 miles and there would be a lot of outhouses and trees until we went back to civilization at the end of the day. I had heard of menstrual cups many years ago and was disgusted by the idea. I was young and naive then!! Now that I am older and want more of my freedom back from a restroom and leaks, I took the plunge. The cheaper cup worked fine for my first trial period. I had a leak, but it was minor. I did more research after my period was over and decided to try a different brand to see if it would fit my "shape" better. The Lena did the trick. I never felt it and never struggled to get it to open up properly. It fit me perfectly! On my heaviest days, I used the larger cup and went horseback riding on the Big Horn Mountains for 7 hours. 7 hours on a horse's back!! I thought surely I would've leaked after all of that! I never, not once, leaked! After a quick rest, we went right back out on 4-wheelers! I cant tell you how life-changing a menstrual cup has been for me. I take it out, wash, then put back in when I wake up and do the routine again around bed time, and yes you can sleep with it. On heavier days I removed it at around the 8hr mark, with the larger cup. Most days it lasted me 12hrs, with the regular size, though I have a normal flow-if your's is heavier then plan 6-8hrs. Your first period with it will be a little messy, but you'll get the hang of it by the next period and will have less mess. I use any mild hand soap that's on hand (especially when you're vacationing-most soaps in vacation properties are mild due to general public use), when at home I use an actual menstrual cup wash. If you're in a public restroom and absolutely must remove it to empty it out, you can get away with wiping it out with TP and re-using AS LONG AS you wash it properly when you get home or are able to at your next stop!! (Yes you can use the bathroom while it is in and NOT have to remove it) And as for using the cup and inserting, there are several folds recommended in the guide that comes with the Lena. The C-Fold is easy and I found that worked for me. I trimmed the end on the larger cup because it sits "lower" than the smaller one does. If you're considering trying out a menstrual cup for the first time, dont be afraid and RELAX! Pick a cycle where you'll likely be home (i.e. not traveling for fun or work) and you'll be comfortable. Practice does make perfect! Once you get it figured out you will be amazed at how liberating it is! If you dont know when your period comes (if you just never tracked it-download a period tracker app) or if you're irregular, the cup is an even better solution. I keep one in my purse, my locker at work, in my car, and at the house. They're discreet, light and can be folded, and come with cute little cloth bags. No more being suprised by your period and having to beg a tampon or pad off of a stranger in a public restroom! Doesn't that sound great?

The Lena cup was recommended to me by the quiz results from putacupinit.com Although the quiz recommended I get the Lena sensitive, I opted to go with this two pack so I don't have to worry about getting the wrong size. I got these at about 11 am and already on my first day. So after boiling them for 5 minutes (make sure you don't leave these unattended while boiling), I let them cool before using. It was 1 pm when I started to attempt to put the smaller cup in but was only successful 2 hours later and on my 7th attempt. I took breaks between each attempt. By 9 PM, I was having a weird feeling and turns out, the cup was full. So somehow, I think you'll know when it's full. I had no problems in taking it out probably because it was full and the blood provided a lot of lubrication. I decided to use the large cup for overnight use . I still used a pad in case I leaked and said a little prayer that the cup won't be lost while I slept (I am paranoid, yes). Morning came and I was super happy I didn't have any leaks. Again, no problems in taking it out but this is probably because t was my second day when my flow is heaviest. For some reason, I had a hard time putting the cup back in after cleaning and so I wore a pad and continued to attempt to use the cup. I was successful by midday. But please note that I was doing each attempt for 10 minutes or so and with long breaks in between (like maybe 30-45 minutes in between each attempt). If it wouldn't go in, I wasn't about to force the issue. I was also doing this in the shower space of my bathroom because I didn't want to boil it again in case I dropped it in the toilet. Good thing too, because I learned very quickly that the cup can be slippery when you take it out. I spilled the cup because I dropped it accidentally when I was taking it out the first time and it looked like a crime scene. So ladies, I definitely recommend doing this while you're in the shower. More research led me to thinking that a water-based lubricant might be helpful. I'm going to try this for my next period. But will definitely get the Lena sensitive cups in the event that the water-based lube doesn't help. So based on my experience, I can tell you that you DO NEED TO BE RELAXED for when you put the cup in. When you take it out, BEAR DOWN to make it easier for you to reach in and break the seal. The cup itself is firm and that was part of why it takes me at least 10 minutes to try inserting the cup in. The cups have a tendency to open prematurely especially when I used the punch down fold. To be fair, I think this is both because it is firm and probably because I had a weak grip on it. I had better luck when I used the triangle fold. Once inside, I didn't feel the Lena cup to the point that I almost forgot I was on my period. I mean I knew it was there in the back of my mind but it was really comfortable that I only had to be mindful of the 12 hour time period. I cut the stem of the smaller cup too short so I really have to bear down when taking it out but I didn't have an issue with the stem of the larger cup. I like that the cup seals perfectly and I didn't have a single leak. I also didn't have an issue with it not opening correctly inside so I think that's an advantage of firmer cups. TBH, I think the large cup is better for me during the first three days of my period and I will probably switch to the smaller cup for the remaining days. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase. I am definitely not going back to wearing pads and have been recommending period cups to my friends.

I’ve been using menstrual cups for over 5 years now and I was looking for a menstrual cup with two sizes and a thinner material. I did some research and decide to take a chance on this cup and I’m glad I did, because they fit perfectly for me. I use the smaller cup for the start and end of my period and the larger one in the middle of my period. Also the cup comes with a tab you can use to pull your menstrual cups out (you can cut the tab shorter if it’s too long).

I like the variety, easy to use and don’t tend to leak. Can sometimes be a bit difficult to put in but are easy to clean

As a first time user I expected to have some difficulties, the small cup was so firm I struggled to remove it and I could feel it at all times. I used it through two cycles before deciding that I should try something different, I bought a different soft cup and that is so much better for me!! The soft cup is easy to grab once inside, and I don't feel it at all.

I've used cups before without any issues, but after the first use this one actually ended up with a hole under the rim which is pretty concerning. I didn't find this comfortable to insert or remove and found things sore for a few days afterwards. I can't recommend this at all.
