Reinstall or Repair only, but worked great, and shipped fast!
My machine caught a heck of a virus, and I could not get it to boot from the USB version no matter what I tried. This disk is exactly what I needed to completely scrub my machine with partdisk, and reinstall. Granted, it did not work until the third time of turning the computer off and on, but my pc was such a pain at that point I could easily attribute it to that. I will repeat the info that this DOES NOT contain a product key. My computer has the key built in, so I just needed the boot disk. Just be aware of what you need when buying this item.

Works on a Windows 8.1 Computer upgraded to Windows 10
This DVD actually brought a dead computer back to life. If you have a computer that is a brick and bought right at the time that Windows 10 was being rolled out you will probably need unless you made a recovery DVD versus flash drive this maybe the only thing that will get you back up and running. In any case if you upgraded your recovery material will bring your computer back to in my case 8.1 (At least that what I read on HP's website). Since I didn't want to to this and luckily was fully backed up I wanted to replace the dead HD with an SSD and do a fresh install. Since it was a family computer I am not sure how the Hard Drive started to crash and didn't trust Windows Defender. We wanted the new drive to be "fresh" so wanted to start totally fresh. So my first thought was buy the flash drive since that is my typical recovery media for our computers. Unfortunately it did not work double checking the bios to allow USB boot.. Not sure why and maybe it was due to the 8.1 to 10 OS upgrade. Anyhow as much as I changed and played with the Bios I could always hear the DVD drive wanting to boot. I thought got nothing to really lose and reviews mentioned it worked in this capacity but not sure about the OS upgrades. Bought this stuck in the drive and it started right up. My first attempt to get the HD to become smart did fail (it happens at the very end) because I picked upgrade choice and I had nothing to upgrade. Instead you want to pick new install. I believe the license for windows is buried in the bios and new install finds that license automatically. After that it was pretty straightforwards and relatively quick to install. In summary, this DVD was all i needed to get back up and running. It was so simple to bring a totally dead PC back to life.

Defective and found to unnecessary
My wife's Win laptop was unable to startup. It failed to find the boot sector on the hard drive. I thought I could use this disk to get it to run in troubleshooting mode. The disk they sent was bad. No computer I have could read it. I get an error message that the CD is unreadable. Then I went to Microsoft and downloaded the Win install ISO disk and created a boot drive using a flash drive. I did this on this on my MacBook Pro and formatted it for Windows. I used the flash drive I created to boot the broken laptop and try to troubleshoot the problem. The issue was unsolvable and I had to reformat the hard drive. Using the flash drive I created, I was able to boot into the Windows Setup and copy the user directory to another hard drive before I reformat and install a clean copy of Windows. So this product/CD was completely worthless and just wasted time waiting for this CD to arrive when I could have spend that time downloading the ISO from Microsoft and building my own recovery drive.

Worked good for my daughter.
I bought this for my laptop. Bummer is I couldn't boot it at all because it just wasn't cooperating. I tried using it anyway and the program did start and get far enough to tell me that my hard drive was encrypted and they could not unlock it to restore it. Well, my daughter's laptop had been acting up so I passed it to her and she was able to follow the directions and it's running perfectly now. I thought I wasted me money so I'm really glad it worked for her.

Pleasantly Surprised.
EXCELLENT! I did not have much hope of this actually working but it did! It worked so well I'm writing a review about it. Older HP WIN7 system upgraded to WIN10 for free. Ever since that upgrade I have had failures after EVERY UPDATE! After the last one it was a cascade failure and would not load. I decided to make a boot disc and wipe and reinstall... No luck. Every time I tried to make one the system would not accept. This was my last ditch effort and boy-oh boy did it work! Wiped and reinstalled without only 3 strokes of enter. The system is running clean and updates are no problem.

Doesn't work as well as it should.
Was supposedly a way to repair win 10 drive. Bogus. It did a partial fix but DISABLED THE KEYBOARD . Found it hard to access when I can't enter the PIN. Using an external keyboard didn't work. Going to disassemble and flatline the drive. I then plan on using LINIX instead of windows.

boots up
This disc does boot your device (make sure your boot order is correct) but beyond that I cannot rate it because apparently either my bios is corrupted or my hard drive has failed because I still end up with a black screen after boot. It appears any software repair action can only be performed if you are actually able to sign in. bummer. Does it work beyond boot, IDK.
