Are these the upgraded (2021) version?

Yes it is our 2021 version of Sony XM3 replacement earpads. We no longer sell our previous versions of these earpads.

Would these fit on the XM4s? I really like the red camo pattern but dont want to waste time buying (and potentially reutrning) if they wont fit.

No, they are not compatible. We do have a replacement earpads specifically made for XM4 but unfortunately, we had a production problem with these earpads so we had to discontinue selling them until we fix the problem. We might be able to sell them again before the end of this year.

Can anyone advise how easy/difficult these replacements are to fit please?

Very easy, you just pull the others off and put these on. They're very good. There are instructions included.
