Premium Quality at A Great Price; Fit May Vary
This was my second attempt at a pair of Thursdays. My first was the Dukes on the old RT3 last. These Captains came on the new Kingmaker, which is rounder. I donโt wear the Dukes because of too much pressure on the tops of the toe box, a problem which unfortunately seems to replicate itself here, despite having ordered a different boot, in a different size, made on a different last. But, I canโt fault the obviously high quality and build of this product. So I will speak to that first. I loved the workmanship on the Captains. I ordered these in Arizona Adobe. The leather was beautiful, thick, and durable. I would agree with other recent reviewers that it was definitely more of a chocolate brown than the burnt orange that is pictured. Some folks have theorized that a certain batch of Arizona Adobe leather came in darker that others this time, and that this batch just needs to work its way through the product line. If youโre looking for something closer to the burnt orange pictured, try another color or wait until other folks (or the company itself) can attest to a batch that more closely matches the Arizona Adobe pictured. That all being said, I actually liked the chocolate brown these turned out to be, so your mileage may vary. Regarding construction, thereโs no question they would hold up to years of hard wear, the studded sole is tough and the leather remarkably scuff resistant. Laces felt strong and durable. Welt was clean and there were no errant stitches that I could find anywhere on the boot. The rubber studded sole was beautiful and high quality. The quarters seemed a little flimsy, I was expecting something similar to cowboy boot quarters which are often firmer leather or reinforced with plastic, but these felt more like dress shoe quarters to me. Obviously in a boot like this, and any shoe really, your heel doesnโt bend or flex or move much compared to your instep and forefoot, so the need for super tough heel quarters may be unnecessary, I only mention it because it felt strange given the heavier duty feeing about the rest of the boot. Apart from that, craftsmanship was truly punching above its weight class on these, and they represent a great value on construction quality alone. The problem, and itโs why I returned them, is the shape and design of the last does not work for my feet for some reason. Iโm a 10.5E on a Brannock device but I fit a 10D in most shoes and cowboy boots with a few exceptions depending on the boot maker. 10.5D in Vans. I followed Thursdayโs recommendation of sizing a half size down and ordered a 10D. The resulting fit was appropriate for most of my foot. They fit well everywhere, perhaps even a little wide in the midfoot. Heel felt comfortably snug despite my reservations about the quarters. The issue is the toe box. I can feel the toe box with the tops of my toes and it exerts a mild to medium but constant pressure on them. Iโve had trouble with ingrown nails in the past and after a few days, my toes just hurt and I start to feel that if I keep wearing them, my ingrown nail issues will return. Maybe I have abnormally large Big Toes on both feet, but this issue is usually not a problem with other shoes in similar sizes, including multiple pairs of Dan Post and Capitan cowboy boots with R toes and cutter toes respectively. Never had a problem. Going a half size larger with these, (as I did with my other Thursdays Dukes) makes my foot swim in the boots, they are much too large. Half size down or wide size wouldnโt fix a toe box that isnโt tall enough. The only thing I can chalk it down to is that the shape of the last just doesnโt work for my feet. Every bootmaker and shoe maker has different lasts around which they build their shoes to make a consistent product across multiple size and width configurations. Iโm sure last development is very difficult, and based on the huge number of five star reviews on these things, Thursday has obviously created a great product that works well for a lot of people. I wish they had worked for me. I suspect I might have more luck with the heavier duty models that come with lug soles and puff toes, but I find lug soles unfashionable for my sense of style. It may just be that Iโm out of luck on Thursdays. I really wanted to like these and to have them work out, but for that reason I had to return them.

Title: Great Boots, Even Better Customer Service (Perfect for Wide Feet, Including 3E!)
I had been searching for a pair of quality black boots for months and finally decided on the Thursday Captain in Matte Black. It is incredibly difficult to find this style of high-quality boot available in wide selections that can accommodate someone who wears a 3E (EEE) width. This availability is what initially sold me, though I was still hesitant to buy them online without trying them on, especially considering the price and potential break-in period. Initial Impression & Fit: The shipping was fast. Out of the box, the boots were definitely snug across the ball of my foot, but they felt instantly high-quality. I spent several weeks walking around the house to start the break-in process. The Defect & Customer Service: During the break-in, I developed an uncomfortable feeling in the bottom of my left foot while walking. It felt like constantly stepping on a rock, as the lugs on the sole were pushing through the footbed. I contacted Thursday Boots and explained the issue. The representative was excellentโthey requested photos to share with the production staff to diagnose the cause. To my surprise and great satisfaction, they sent me a replacement pair of boots free of charge. Final Assessment: The replacement pair was flawless. It took a few weeks of consistent wear to fully break them in, but once they molded to my feet, they felt fantastic. Look: They look great and sharp. Comfort: They are comfortable for walking and feel durable. Fit for Wide Feet: The fact that they offer a wide option for a 3E (EEE) foot is a game-changer. The initial snugness gives way to a truly comfortable fit after the break-in. I am extremely pleased with both the quality of the replacement boots and the exceptional customer service from Thursday. The positive experience was so significant that I have since purchased another pair of boots from this company. It makes me confident in purchasing from them again.

Great looking boots with excellent quality. The black leather looks clean, feels durable, and theyโre comfortable right out of the box. Definitely worth the money.

Bad sizing and quality control issues
Well I'm going to make my story with Thursday boots, I saw an Ad about this brand about more then a year ago, and I thought that $200 for a boot was a lot for me at the time, and recently I saw a brand new pair of boots with box and everything on Poshmark, I got them in Arizona adobe 8.5 (see pic 1 and 2) size because I made a little bit of research and in the official website of Thursday boots they recommended go 1/2 size down, guest what they didn't fit they were too tight for me, also I realized that the stitches were over the sole, it just a matter of time for the stitches ripped off, it's just a bad construction, however I really like a lot the quality of the leather and I decided to purchase a new pair from Amazon same color but size 9 (my actual size, see pic 3), well... For my surprise this was a complete different boot the color Adobe was way lighter (wich I liked more)the other one was darker, and they actually fixed the stitches, they put the stitches under a welt chanel so they don't get ripped off against the floor, way better boot, but they fit too loose I didn't understand why so I made a more deeper research and I found out that after 2023 they made a new construction they called a kingmaker last, well I returned the size 9 to Amazon, I sold the 8.5 that I got from Poshmark, and I got and 8.5 from Amazon, now what? Well I think that boot was a return, they fit perfectly this time, it was another kingmaker last model, but the color looks dirty more darker than the previous size 9 that I received, and the sole had a defect a small piece was loose(see pic 4) so I returned this one and I purchased another one, yes another one, this one was in a brand new condition compared to the previous 8.5 but the color of the boot for some reason it was not the same as the color of the size 9 that I got before they look darker (see pic 5), the size 9 boot was pretty much like the picture that they advertise, the last 8.5 that I received it was similar but darker, however very good quality, it was not perfect though, this one came with a black spot on the leather (see pic 6) is small I'm going to keep it anyway, I'm just tired of this hole process, has been more then a month since I got the first pair. I'm giving 4 star because of the sizing that's something that you guys need to address and fix, and I noticed some inconsistency in the finish of the final product or quality control issues, I will try to update after a year just to see how they age with the time FYI: the first pair 8.5 the serial number started with 21 I don't know if this means that they were made in 2021, the boot size 9 starter with a 25 and the other 2 boots that I received started with a 24 in the Serial number I guess that's why the color was different from the size 9

Love mine... now.
These did not start out as the most comfortable boots. The leather definitely had a break in period. They are the best looking ones I've owned, though. Had to buy a second pair because I really like them. Dressy enough for work, yet also look great with a pair of jeans. I would probably caution against using them for, say... walking around at Disneyland all day. I have some boots that are more comfortable for that, but they don't look any where near as classy.

Great Boots!
I finally succumbed to the nonstop barrage of Thursday Boots ads on Facebook and YouTube, and Iโm glad I did. Bought mine through Amazon Prime rather than Thursdayโs website because Prime has faster shipping (delivered SAME DAY!). Plus Amazon doesnโt charge $4 extra for the shipping box, which is what Thursday charges with their โfreeโ shipping. Admittedly, when the boots arrived I was somewhat underwhelmed. Out of the box, they look very generic and monochromatic. No personality whatsoever. But once you put them on and walk around in them, the leather begins to crease and lighter-colored undertones emerge, giving the boots a vintage patina thatโs really beautiful. You can intensify those tonal variations by taking the boots off and bending and squishing them. Conceptually, the boots are in kind of a no-manโs land. Theyโre not heavy-duty enough to be hardcore construction boots like Nickโs or Whiteโs boots and theyโre not refined enough to be classified as dress boots. Instead they strike a really nice balance. My wife loves the way mine look on me, saying they look rugged and manly yet classy enough to wear out on the town or to the office. (She hates the construction worker or Shawshank vibe of most of my boots!) Iโd initially ordered two pair of Captains: in Arizona Adobe and Terracota. I initially liked the color of the Terracotas better but construction-wise, the Arizona Adobes seemed like they were of higher quality. When compared to the Adobes, the Terracotas used thinner leather for the uppers and the eyelets and speed hooks seemed haphazardly installed, leaving sharp-edge rivets on the backside of the uppers that started tearing up the tongue the first time I laced the boots up. I preferred the antiqued brass eyelets on the Terracotas over than the chrome used on the Adobes, but ultimately returned the Terracotas for the aforementioned reasons, though both versions were equally comfortable right out of the box. Also, as mentioned earlier, once the undertones of the Adobes began to reveal themselves, I was thrilled choice. Oddly, the Adobes were packaged in a much sturdier box than the Terracotas. Checking out Thursdayโs website explained why: the Terracotas are an older version of the Captains and were packaged in a different box. The Adobes had a few other refinements the Terracotas did not get. You can compare specs for the many different colors of the Captains by going to Thursdayโs website, selecting any of their boots, clicking on PRODUCT FEATURES, then clicking on RELEASE NOTES.

Thursday Arizona Boots
Great boots, on size I bought a size 10.5, they fit good when I use a pair of sock that is little thicker than a dress sock, and they would also fit with a normal boot sock, they are not too tight. My OC on-clouds tennis are US11, my NB new balance are 11, all my slip on Sketchers are US 10.5 and my new Nike tennis picked up in the Mexico City Nike outlet are US 11.5 and fit good if this helps. I did feel like some say a slight pressure across the top of my foot when I wore them the first time, so knowing they need to be broke in, I stood at the kitchen counter and stretched my legs back and went to work on flexing and bending the tops to help break in a little, then wore them around the house a little while that afternoon, then wore out shopping the next day with no complaints, they are boots and heavier than any of my other shoes run around in, wore them to work on Friday with jeans and well didnโt bother me at all. Look good with jeans and is the first pair of regular type dresser boots I have bought in well canโt remember, maybe ever since want count cowboy boots wore when young and riding boots for bikes that are different. I plan to mostly wear them around on weekends, I may still revert to my tennis when know will be walking all day, but like the style look and feel for my first boots in 30/40 yrs. They are not winter boots and see than was well built for durability, I live in a hot climate but didnโt have any issues with hot feet. Designed in US and assembled in Mexico which is fine. They been making boots for years!!

Amazing boot, but do your research!
The boots feel and look so good in the Dark Olive Matte color. My biggest complaint, though, is that you really need to do your research before buying these on Amazon versus directly from Thursdayโs website. Make sure you carefully read the description and confirm which LAST youโre getting. The last is essentially the shape and molding of the boot, and it can make a huge difference in both the appearance and comfort. I originally purchased the Matte Black version about three years ago, and they came with the RT3 last. They felt extremely round and chunky, so they ended up sitting in my closet because I was expecting a sleeker look similar to the ENCORE last. The Encore has a much slimmer appearance, but it can be pretty tight for some people. Amazon still sells versions using the RT3 last WHICH GOES FOR $50 cheaper on Thursday boots second website then what Amazon sells it for, while the Dark Olive Matte pair I purchased came in the KINGMAKER last, which is the newer molding. The difference is noticeable. The KINGMAKER feels much more comfortable to me as it is the perfect combination of the ENCORE and RT3 where itโs not so tight and still sleek. My other complaint is that the boots arrived with a scuff on the right toe. Honestly, these are boots that I plan to wear regularly, so theyโre going to get scuffed eventually anyway, and Iโm not going to make a huge deal out of it. However, I did expect them to arrive in pristine condition when buying a brand-new pair. Overall, if youโre considering these boots, do your research on the LAST before ordering. If possible, I would recommend purchasing directly from Thursdayโs website to make sure youโre getting the current model and latest LAST. Amazon can be hit or miss, especially if you specifically want the newest shape and construction. The Dark Olive Matte storming sole KINGMAKER version, though, is a great-looking and very comfortable boot of the bat.

Be patient with break-in if you have wide feet - they will break in!
Followed the Thursday website sizing advice based on my sneakers sizes (EU41, E width). Mild panic as the first time I tried them on they felt too tight. I measured the length of the boot (7.5) versus my other shoes and the length seemed fine, although they were definitely narrower in the mid foot. If I was EE width I would have had to order from Thursday direct a EE width pair. I'd heard reviewers talk about 'almost no break-in', although I suspect they may have ignored the half-a-size down advice from Thursday, or perhaps had narrower feet. Other reviewers spoke about wearing them every day for 2 weeks to break in, in some cases acknowledging they prefer a snug fit with their boots. I took some time to break them in - had some hot spots and blisters on my heels, but they've finally broken in to a point where they are comfortable now - I feel that my foot can fully relax in them, and the mid foot did eventually break in nicely. I would have loved some indication of what to expect with break in for wide feet (a note in the box?), as this would have made me feel I was taking less of a gamble with seeing how it all went with break in after the initial try on. They look fantastic, and have a great new leather smell out of the box, that definitely sticks around for a while! Will definitely give Thursday a look-in for my next pair of boots - recommended.

Great boots!! Agree with others would just go with usual size. I wear size 9 for sneakers and the same size in these fit well. Abit lighter than looks on photo.

Quality service style boot
Very sturdy and given its ruggedness Iโm expecting it to take a wee while before itโs really comfortable - but looks great! Fit was as my usual size. Looks a tiny bit chunkier than I expected; mainly the sole, but still more streamlined than most other service style boots. All in all a great boot and worth the money. Hoping Iโll have it for years to come.
