Park Tool FR-5.2 Cassette Lockring Tool, Metal

Fits my bike perfectly, great tool!

Most of the Park Tool mechanics tools are built to survive a lifetime and this cassette locking tool is no exception. This is one of the most common lock ring standards for Shimano cassettes. While Park does make some variants to this that have guide pins (offering a bit more stability) this tool is more universal and it compatible with eBike and other hubs where the axle must pass through this tool in order to slip over the rim. If you're wondering, you'll need a 1" box wrench (or similar tool/adjustable wrench) to spin this. I'd pick one of these up if you don't already have one, it's a great pairing with this tool. Great stuff as always. Cheaper than a visit to the LBS and the satisfaction of working and repairing things yourself.

Works perfect as designed. Worried about holding it steady as you turn it? Just run the quick release skewer thru the hub and thru the tool and secure on lightly, just enough to hold the tool in place and easy all you do is turn counter clockwise to take off. Now, you'll need a tool to hold the cassette still from rotating as you loosen the retaining ring. Use a chain whip tool to hold to the cogs or a hooked cog wrench, either will work, but you'll need one or the other to take off a cassette from the wheel. No worry about a wrench, just use a big crescent wrench if need be. The nut is 1 inch, or you can use a 1 inch socket and wrench like I did. It's not on super tight, so remember when you use this tool to install the retaining ring again ... light on the torque! There are "bumps" as you tighten. From first contact, tighten about 4 bumps ... or use a torque wrench and follow the instructions on torque. No centering fitting needed really, just hold in place with the quick release skewer nut! Changed out my cassette easy!

The usual excellent Park Tool quality. This is one to have in your tool kit, as it works with 80% of the freehubs you're likely to encounter. You pay a little more for Park tools, but if "Made in the USA" means anything to you, and you want your tools to last, it's worth the extra cost. Well packaged

A bit pricey but gets the job done

This worked perfect for removing the rear cassette from my bike. I did not get the tool that wraps around the cassette but I was still able to remove the cassette using a technique I found on the web (e.g. "what to do if you our out in the field and need to replace it".). Park tool seems to make some of the best tools for bikes and is a good value based on the quality of the product.
