I count 45 stars on the flag, is the image displayed correct or a mistake?

The flag is waving so some are hidden. It's not made in China. It's very difficult to put 50 stars on the small quadrant of a 1" pin and still diestrike the stars. Most people just put dots, we have actual stars in our design. If you find a 1" pin that has 50 ***detailed*** stars, please let us know!

I still haven't received my order so how can I give you my opinion of the pins?

my opinion of the pins is that they are very well made and quit attractive. Better that all of the other pins that I have.

Has diameter of pin clasp been altered to give an more secure connection without hitting spur stud?

No. The spur stud does not contact the clasp, it simply protrudes through the fabric to add stability.
