Aurora Commercial Grade 200-Sheet Auto Feed High Security Micro-Cut Paper Shredder/ 60 Minutes/Security Level P-5

This is, hands down, the best shredder I've ever owned. First, the auto-feed is a must. If you have stacks of 8.5x11 paper that needs shredding, this is your product. I've had Fellows for years that I used to hand feed paper into, which was great at the time but now, I need the auto-feed. I decided to get rid of my file cabinets and tons of paper, buy a high speed scanner (Epson RR-600W) and make all my files electronic. It was working out great until I realized that I have hours and hours of shedding to do. I recently tried an HP shredder with auto-feed and that was a disaster. The paper kept getting caught on a ledge where the paper feeds in and it would stop barely into a stack. So I looked for something that wouldn't get caught on anything (didn't care if it was P4 or P5 cross-cut) and I saw this one. It was a little more than I wanted to spend, but instead of calling out a shredding truck or taking bags and bags of paper to a place that may or may not shred my confidential docs, I spent the money and I'm really happy that I did. I can put 200 pages in this machine and go about my business while it does all the work. I think it's about 8 - 9 minutes to shred a full stack (mainly because it is a P5 and the shreds are pretty tiny). You can also leave staples in the auto-shred because of the way the paper is pulled into the machine, which is the best thing about this shredder. The manual feed takes staples and odd shaped docs as well. This thing is fairly quiet for a shredder which makes me happy too. It's on casters so I can pull it in and out of the little cubby that I have it in. The paper bin is also has casters on the back to you can tilt and roll it over to wherever you want to empty it. Aside from my high speed scanner, this one of my favorite purchases ever. Dont waste your money on a top loader where the paper sits upright in a feeder, like a printer, just get one of these. Either size would be superior to any other shredder function in this price range. I’ve had it for 1 1/2 years now and I’ve still been feeding boxes and boxes of paper into it. It’s still going strong. I love this thing!!

I purchased this shredder after purchasing a slightly smaller popular brand. The other brand jammed twice. Both times I was able to fix the jamb by completely taking the machine apart. I decided I did not have time for that and after using this same Aurora shredder at work for a ver a year I decided to go for it. It is not perfect but after using several other shredders, it is my top choice without breaking the bank. The feeder is great if you have a good stack of papers that you can sit in there and leave. I do this at work when doing monthly reports. It is a bit slow. The machine is fairly quiet. The bin is a little larger than most and thus I am having trouble finding bags that I like to fit the bin. No you do not have to use bags and i have read many just dump. I just don’t like dealing with or breathing the dust that comes from dumping. The bin does seem to register full quicker than I would expect. Of course you can push the shreds down and buy some time. With the paper feed option, if you are manually feeding sometimes if the papers are bent and not straight you may have to wiggle around to line the paper up with the feeder teeth. I have yet to encounter a jam and I k ow that the one at work has not been maintained with lubricant but, it is still going strong. I love that the shredder is on rollers and fits under a table or desk for storing away. Yes, there may be some paper shreds in your new machine due to testing before selling. The first day I went pretty hard for almost two hours. The machine kept going and did not overheat. Overall I am very pleased with this machine and would recommend.

If you're trying to shred volumes of letter size paper, this is your shredder. I wanted to get rid of a file cabinet full of old financial documents, plus boxes in the garage and this saved me tons of money I would have spent if I'd taken everything to a professional shredder (or called a shredding company truck) and tons of time if I'd used a regular shredder. Plus it shreds everything into smaller sized, more secure confetti, which in turn takes up less space in your trash/recycling and is less of a mess than cross-cut shredded strips. This shredder is designed for you to open the lid, place several hundred sheets of letter size paper into the bin, close the lid, and walk away. You get other things done while it shreds. Amazing. Come back when it's done and load more. Also, all of these shredders that you can compare it to - they all have "run times" which means how long can it run for before it gets hot and needs to take a break. This has one of the longest run times, so it will shred way longer than the others before you need to stop. Which means more boxes of files done sooner. Awesome. Does it have any drawbacks? Yes. If you want to shred paper that isn't letter size, you won't do well using the letter bin. You need to hand feed through the top. The top feed does not accept a heavy load. You can't put very much down it at a time. If you like to hand feed a lot at a time, this isn't the shredder for you. Also, in the letter bin, paper that isn't normal paper (different weight - too light, too heavy, has folds in it) sometimes it doesn't pull through and the whole batch waits while it spins its gears and you have to pop the lid open and pull the paper on the bottom out and reset the stack. So I shredded probably 20 boxes worth, sold my file cabinet, and took it to my office and kept going. Ok, so then - about the customer service that I mention in my review title: I did have a problem. It's been 3 months... and the entire shredder broke. The main gear system just destroyed itself. Total mechanical failure. (All internal - nothing dangerous.) I was worried that I was going to be one of those 1 star reviews. "Oh why didn't I believe those reviewers?" (But every single shredder you read has some.) So I searched online for Aurora, found their website, emailed customer service and got a response immediately. Not days or hours - minutes. (Yes, it was during business hours.) They had me reply and send photos of the damage / failure plus proof of purchase. They basically said, ok, no problem, you're covered, give us your address so we can ship you a new one. (I did not need to return the old one.) They were so easy to deal with and no hassles - and yes, they spoke English. PROS: Fast Quiet Excels with letter size paper Produces micro-cut particles Shreds on its own Lengthy run time Great customer service Does not require continuous (expensive) oiling CONS: Not as good with hand fed shredding Can stall on letter size if abnormal Did break after 3 months (but was quickly replaced for free) Final Comment: At this price point, and with their service backing their 1 year warranty, if you have a lot of letter size shredding to do in the near future, it's awfully hard to justify picking a competitor.

This thing is a beast. I know I know it’s pricey, but it works effortlessly. And it’s shreds into bits of pieces. I’m live the ability to stack a set of a hundred or more 8x11 documents close the lid and let it do its thing. Admittedly the top feed is a bit tricky, but works just as well. For the money it can’t be beat. I haven’t tried any credit cards yet.

Very disappointed in this very expensive shredder. You can only shred 200 pages at a time if every single page is pristine without any bend whatsoever. So basically, it can’t. Moreover, you cannot see when it is shredding paper inside. You can only hear - not see, if shredding. Plus you hear shredding noise even if no paper is actually shredding. So after a lot of “shredding noise” you can open the lid and find all your papers still there. In addition, this shredder is extremely heavy! All in all, I can’t use the shredder to shred the advertised 200 pages at once, and you can’t watch whether the shredding is actually happening. I am returning this very expensive dud.

Aurora makes great Shredders. I didn't keep this one. I had to purchase their larger 400-Sheet model. It worked its way through dozens of file boxes of old documents without a single issue. Follow the instructions, keep it oiled, and your Aurora Shredder will serve you well. I went through a mound of file boxes with my Aurora. The only issue is time. These things are not going to rip through a dozen file boxes in an afternoon. The Aurora shredders aren't for you if you have to get everything done in an afternoon. I would say you get through a prepped and sorted box in about six hours or so. I think it's best used if you have the time to feed it paper and let it run while you do other things. The paper must be organized into a neat stack, with no binder clips (or other binding stuff like combs or glue spines). Once you have a nice, clean stack, the Aurora goes to work. You load the paper, 400 sheets at a time on my model, 200 on this model, and let it do its thing. It's quiet and clean. It just takes its own time and gets the job done. Another advantage is that once you've shredded your backlog, this machine takes up about the same space as any other office shredder. So you should never get behind again.

I hate shredding. It's loud. It takes forever. And it requires constant attention. What a waste of time. When our old shredder gave up the ghost and I saw that it was possible to get shredders with automatic feed, my eyes lit up. But then they narrowed suspiciously. Because that sounds like the sort of thing that breaks easily. I looked at several models, and this is the one I settled on. It does a fantastic job of shredding. And the automatic feed works. I went through an eight-inch stack of paper in a few hours. That stack built up over the course of years because of how much we hate shredding at our house. It's been looming over us, growing slowly, a constant nagging reminder of unfinished projects. And now... it's just... gone. We are free! That's just about the strongest endorsement I can possibly give this shredder. Overall, the noise is quieter and lower pitched than the old shredder... not exactly pleasant, but much less grating. There is also a sensor to detect when the bin is full. Not realizing that the bin was full led to the death of the old shredder in the event now known as the Great Confetti Disaster of 2024. As far as drawbacks, there are only a couple. You can still feed pretty much anything manually, like a regular shredder. But the automatic feed is very fussy. You will auto-feed only 8.5 x 11 pages under a certain paper weight. Legal size paper? Nope. Thick paper? Nope. And it will occasionally fail to grab an oddly-creased page and just spin. So I don't recommend leaving it completely unattended. But it's not as loud as our old, much smaller shredder, so you put 200 pages in, close the top, pop in some earbuds, and go back to work listening for it to stop when done, or the sounds of spinning but not grinding if it can't get a page. That happened 2-3 times in what was probably around 2,000 pages. Maybe it'll break easily tomorrow, but it hasn't yet, and that was a trial by fire. The most significant drawback is the bin. The shredded bits are truly tiny. That's not the drawback. That's exactly what you want from a shredder. But the shredded bits have volume. Our shredding filled two 30-gallon trash bags completely. And the tiny bits are small and light enough to take flight in any breeze. Or no breeze. The bin has lots of hooked plastic bits on it that seem highly optimized to the task of destroying trash bags. Through which the teeny tiny shredded bits can and do easily escape. So don't try to put the bin inside a trash bag and empty it that way unless you need a flexible sieve. Just empty the bin with a vacuum cleaner handy, preferably with someone else to hold the bag open. The shredded bits seem like they would make decent insulation or possibly stuffing. However, they also seem like they would make excellent tinder, so don't empty this shredder near open flame. Shredding also seems to create some fine dust that tend to poof into the air when you remove the bin, so it's possible that you may inhale some of your shredded papers when you empty the bin. It smells like victory!

This is a great shredder, I call her Prima Donna. Prima Donna doesn't take staples, or folded paper or an accidental paperclip. My old shredder took staples and folded paper -- no problem. The key difference is that Prima Donna can take up to 200 sheets stacked inside and shred them while you walk away. I'd rather not spend the time feeding a shredder up to 20 sheets at a time. I don't love unpicking all the staples left on packets in my high school office, but instead I choose to lob off the stapled paper corners with the guillotine before setting my shredder. The paper shreds are super tiny, but secure. Gotta say I love walking away and having this just work.

it has a paper feed system not direct fee this makes this product less useful as its not likely a stack of messy papers will feed so easily this was not well reflected on the online product description also added complexity makes this likely to malfunction so returning product will buy better product and more power this is not IMO commercial grade for my usage
